I am not sure all who play are mental midgets, but I will certainly stand up and say that I think the Steinbrenner's are mental midgets. They should be grateful that they have the YES network to help their FANTASTIC contracts that they hand out. Now that Hank Steinbrenner is there, we may read a headline like this, "Helen Keller signs 4 year/ 43 million dollar deal to catch for Walter Johnson." This team hands out contracts to aging players and they often baffle me!

Thought I'd throw out there that the Braves' rotation is looking pretty good so far this spring training...

I am willing to go out on a limb and say that the Cubs will obtain Brian Roberts by next Friday! I have been reading a lot of different things from about 150 sites (slow day at work today) that state they are close to a deal! Zambrano is going to skip his last start in order to let Sean Gallagher throw in front of the Orioles' scouts!

A tad late, but better late than never (not that too many people would care anyway).

I watched part of the Reds game against the Tigers on Monday when Johnny Cueto was the starting pitcher. For those that don't know Cueto, he is one of the top prospects in the Reds system, probably second to only Jay Bruce. But the first inning he started out really bad letting the first 4 reach (2 hits, 2 walks) and then I believe he retired 12 straight after giving up 2 runs.

I must say, for being only 22, he was impressive. And against the Tigers lineup. Finished with 4 IP, 4 Ks, 3 BBs and just 2 or 3 hits allowed.

Sounds like a soild spring start for a kid. I also heard that the Reds demoted Bruce. Is that correct?

True it is. He'll be starting in AAA Louisville while it looks like Patterson is going start in center for the big leaguers.

Seems as though the Dusty Baker that wants to play 40-year-old veterans over the top prospect in MLB is starting to settle in. There was no need for Patterson when they already have Bruce, Hopper and Freel.

That's what he was always like with the Cubs.

Man, first Javy Lopez (my favorite player way back when I first started watching) retires, now Smoltz (my favorite pitcher of all time...) may start on the DL. Not a good outlook for my Braves so far.

Angels P Kelvim Escobar is out for the season and fears for his career after a shoulder tear was found.... This is terrible news for Angels fans(me). He was great last year, keeping a backbone in a struggling rotation.

I have been watching the Tigers for most of this Spring Training. I was watching a game the other day, and I was pretty pumped. Then it hit me, how lame Spring Training really is. The starts are taken out (for the most part) after one or two times up to bat. And you can bluntly see how they aren't trying their hardest. I was worried about that Tigers record this spring, and how much better they should be. Then I realized the above point, and thought about the last World Series run. They did horrible in the spring training and look where they ended up.
