What happened?
Wow... there is no one on here anymore! Did socom get old? I remember when there was at least 30,000 people online. Now there's barely 10,000 most I've seen was 15,000 on a Saturday. Just wondering if people still play or did I just get on, when no one was on?

I haven't played s3 in ages, but I would have expected those numbers to be a lot lower. I'm actually impressed that many people still play it.

If only s2 still had those kind of numbers.....

(and no cheaters)

A lot of people lost interest in the game. Socom 3 and Combined Assault had too many flaws that did not deliver a long lasting and worth while experience for many gamers. In addition, many gamers moved onto next generation games that are available for the PS3, XBOX 360, and the Nintendo Wii. To my knowledge, the numbers have always been this low ever since the release of Combined Assault, or possibly a month or two after.

Best answer that you could possibly get..

Don't blame it on credit card verification like Seth Luisi did(in fact, I'd like to see some stats of population when you needed a CC for verification, and then the stats of when they took the verification out altogether and see if it boosted any), camping, cheaters, or any of that. Simply put many people lost interest in the game due to having others things in life to commit to(college, work, so on and so forth), or maybe the fact that Socom just plain gets old after playing it for..how many years since Socom 1 came out?

It deffinatly wasn't cc because to me it seemed like a good idea. it got rid of thousands of unwanted names. and it wasnt that hard to set it up.

cc number + name + accept= done. it was so easy a cave man could do it.

Not so easy if you didn't have a credit card/debit card. Also sucked for families who only had one.

The credit card verification really didn't clear out all of the unwanted names. Yes, it got rid of many of them, but a lot of people in the U.S. have multiple credit/debit cards, in addition to all the gift cards you could have used. Either way, the credit card verification was unneeded, and was not responsible for any drop off in the game.
