Top 10 Confrontation "must haves"
First, judging by the title I assume; that you assume, this thread may be another " The game has to have these features or I'm not buying the POS" type of thread. However, these thread is merely my favorite ideas I'd love to see implemented, improved, or even removed from the beloved franchise. I will list the ten features in order from least important to most important, each with a brief sypnosis and explanation.
10. Remove random jumping from the game--
While jumping may be fun and enjoyable in a futuristic, fictional shooter like Halo, I feel it has no place in a "tactical shooter". In reality jumping during a gunfight would only be an invitation to meet your maker ASAP. Socom is a Navy Seals endorsed game (ala the subtitle), and surely jumping around is not something taught at Seal Special Ops camp. From a gamer vantage point, it would eliminate the ridiculous action of quick sniping, and juggernaut jumpers (people who jump a lot, thus never die). I'm not suggesting remove jump entirely, but only make it a task function like climbing, opening doors, etc.
9. Improve voice chat
This feature is somewhat "boring" in terms of context, yet it is equally important as almost any idea on this list. As a whole, voice chat fails too often, (partly because of lag). Simply put, there needs to be a sure-fire voice chat system that doesn't cut out and doesn't make it impossible to hear other players. Also adding a feature like voting/muting combined would be amazing. Those annoying music players that hog the mic would be voted against as far as speaking cability is concerned. Enough votes ensures they can't be heard by anyone.
8. Incorporate User music into the game
Music saved on the user's PS3 would be played in game at a low, almost distant volume. How cool would it be to rush the center of Crossroads with your favorite song playing in the background?
7. More Clan customization features
I know that it has been announced that clan uniforms will be in the game, which is insanely cool (if its done right). Thus, other aspects could improved as well. Clan celebrations would be a nice addition. In-game clan stats would be really cool as well. Similiar to player stats, but at a clan level. Ex.--Clan Hit %, Clan Kill / Death ratio, Clan Win %, Clan favorite weapon ( great if you wanna know about another clan's tendencies.) A brief scouting report would be awesome, but that may be unrealistic due to that mass amount of players and clans.
6. Add the ability to register 2 names under the same credit
I am personally the owner of 6 credit cards, thus it's not like im mooching off of mommy's card number like the younger crowd does. However, I don't want to put multiple numbers out there incase I want to start over from scratch or live under a new alias. Today's society is a scary realm of credit theft, and identity theft. Just a thought people, a very safe thought.
5. Close the gap between weapon strengths, or at least make the strength noticable.
Plain and simple, a bullet to the head, neck, or chest region should kill the majority of targets with no questions asked, no matter the weapon used. If I pop a shot from a 9mm pistol point blank into someones neck, they're dead. Morever and yet, If i connect someone with a 12 gauge slug point blank in the neck, well folks, they're F***ing wasted. No jokes, just a head that looks like burnt swiss cheese. Thus, developers are presented with option of either, making most guns pretty similiar in power (excluding .50 cals and shotguns of course), OR showing us the difference between a HK5 and a IW-A2, between a F57 and a .50 Desert Eagle, etc.
4. Make our environment's interactive, make cover a option
If I drop a grenade next to a pile of crates that have some apples in them, well darn it, I want apple cider raining on my DCU's, (or BDU's for those playing the home game haha). If I pop a couple rounds off with a .45 caliber machine gun into the side of a building, I want to see a few cracks and concrete depletions. Moreover, If i'm hauling "butt" towards a point of interest and someone decides to ruin my clean uniform by shooting at me, well I wanna legitimately take cover behind somethings. Pillars, tables, vehicles(albeit they aren't in Confrontation) , halfwalls, doors, sand bunkers, etc. I don't just wanna "crouch" or "prone" by the object, I wanna COVER myself with it. This would make lean shooting a more important tactic in game.
3. Reconfigure the Player Stat system
Re-do the whole darn operation. Honestly, I don't have legitimate solution, due to the fact that I'm not a math major, nor a computer code genius. Yet, I'm intelligent enough to know that the current system is faulty, exploitable, and far too complicated for its own good. No one should be able to exploit a ranking, its earned, not stolen.
2. Provide full Customer Support
Once we buy the game, no matter the means, we should be taken care of and treated like royalty. Regular patches, weekly even would be nice. A team dedicated to watching stat abusers (not neccessary if ratings are adjusted). Regular Clan and individual tournaments would be awesome. 16 Clan tourneys that make take a night up would be awesome, one random map, 11 rounds, winner advances, loser goes home or enters a loser bracket. Individual would be cool too, see how YOU rank against ONE other. Updates of maps, guns, game modes, noises, buildings, idc, just something to show they're working. I don't have to go on much more, but basically a game that is fully supported from the get-go till the end.
1. Close the gap between the HARDCORE gamer and the CASUAL gamer.
This one is important to me, most important in fact. I live a very busy life, like many adult players. I'm a 19 year old full-time college student-athlete (Baseball). I have a serious girlfriend and a highly active social life. Thus, Socom takes a backseat to school, sports, friends, lifting and love. Essentially, I'm only able to play socom when life allows me the time do so. When I do play I'm often frustrated because of the Hardcore (nerdy too) gamers that pour 4 to 5 hours (if not more) into the online game. There is no competition for that. You spend 4 to 5 hours everyday doing something, your going to get good at it (sparing sports because much is god given ability). So, what i want is a level playing field for all players. I don't want to get on and get completely dominated game after game by people who live on the game. I'm more mature then trashing them for their life choices (verbally abusing, etc.) Yet, it is severely frustrating to not enjoy your online experience because you have real (and more important) priorities to care for. It is a GAME, meant for fun, not purpose.
Hope you all enjoy my list, I know its long, but I'd love feedback, I typed all this while letting my food settle after dinner so I can take a nice 3 or 4 mile hike to get cardio in after a good lifting session. Well, I'm off. Run till you puke, right kids?

I agree with nearly everything on your list.
The only thing I disagree with is jumping. If you have a crouch and prone option in a game then you should have jumping. Jumping is a great way to avoid snipers out in the open. There is a climb option, but jumping on crates and whatever is a faster way. It also looks cool.

Heh thats the general idea...I almost DID puke on a recent run of mine too.
Anyway, as per your post your "close the gape between harcore and casual" isnt that big of a deal. Socom has those ranks to divvy up ppl by their "skill level" which is their indication of rank.
You know junior gr. rooms, mid-grade rooms, etc.... Sure youll get the odd guy who wastes a credit card number JUST to play with the lesser skilled players, but hey just find another room.
Thats my opinion so far on your ideas, they are generally pretty solid and have pretty good logic behind them. But for me? Ive given up on Socom...

for number 10
The NAVY does not officially endorse the game. They provided technical support only.

so far i can only think of one thing i would absolutely love to see included in the game, "bot" matches. for nights when none of my friends or clanmates are on i'd like to be able to set up a botmatch offline and practice without having to worry about glitchers, teamkillers, or gaytards in general. it wouldn't count towards stats or rank or anything like that, it would just be for practice or fun only.

Not that cool at all IMO. I enjoy the sounds of your feet crunching on the sand, and bullets being fired, and grenades exploding from a firefight your buddy is involved in off in a different part of the map. Thats part of what makes SOCOM SOCOM IMO.

It wouldn't? Try telling that to the thousands of people who play terrorist hunting on R6V almost every night...

Ok... First off, I don't get why there are so many of these forums... Unless you are going to forward this to SlantSix, I don't know your aim. Anyway:

10. You can't just take out the feature. Jump button is jump button. What if you find hurtles? And you really need to jump 8 times in a row? You can't just make it a function. It's way to important in gameplay for those who are familiar with the Jump-Reload... (its key )
7. They already said they were gonna do this.
6. Awesome. "Shuttup man, this is my glitch name."
4. So not classical Socom.
3. They confirmed they were doing that, too.
2. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA .
