One of my teachers who I had the school year just gone has a friend who works in the main stadium where most of the World Cup is going to be held (Munich I think) and he was going to get him tickets but they say that the last minute sales for the tickets didnt even leave enough for staff or anyone like that.
What do you guys think about the security factor this time around? I mean they have made surveillance (sp?) robots which are made to search through large crowds for various crimes, they have a Police team specially formed to deal with Polish (people from Poland) fans as they are just over the border from Germany and are expected to cause trouble in the thousands, and I think they also said they are more worried about racism than terrorism so they are trying to enforce anti-racism tactics. The robots seem a good idea, the team designed to control the Polish fans seems a little over the top, and relaxing Policing on terrorism to deal with racism also seems a little backwards if you ask me.
Sure, rasicm is a big part of football (soccer) but since terrorism is totally random I cant see why its been overlooked slightly. As you guys say, its the biggest thing in sports we see today with thousands of people there and millions watching, dont you think they are overlooking the fact that one strategicly (sp?) placed attack could end it all? I obviously hope nothing does happen, we all saw 9/11, the attacks in London, and all the others around the world so we can only hope that Osama loves to watch the Wrold Cup too.
The World Cup is once every 4 years with only the Euro inbetween, this thing is watched by millions and it has proved to be a life saver this year. Some country in the middle east only avoided war because the country united to form a team to take to the World Cup. That just shows how big this thing is, I only wish that "I wer wachin it wi lads in Inglund."
(I will be very impressed if anyone can either translate what I just said or avoid making fun of the way I talk)
