Mass Effect 2 Could Come to PS3
Microsoft may only get the sequel to itself for a 'short period of time,' BioWare says.

US, March 14, 2008 - Mass Effect 2, the second in a planned trilogy of sci-fi role-playing games from developer BioWare, will be exclusive to the Xbox 360, but possibly for a short time only, a company spokesman told the British gaming site CVG today.
Electronic Arts bought BioWare in January, prompting speculation that the next two installments in the Mass Effect trilogy would be multiplatform in one form or another.
"I believe we'll be Xbox 360 exclusive for at least a short period of time," BioWare senior manager Matt Atwood told CVG. "We're still working out the details on that, but we've had a great relationship with Microsoft and done very well."
Microsoft recently released the first round of downloadable content for the first Mass Effect, but the company hasn't said much about what form future installments will take on the Xbox 360.
"We have no announcements on future Mass Effect projects at this time," a microsoft spokesman told IGN. "Additional inquiries may be sent to Electronic Arts."
Atwood also said a PC version of Mass Effect 2 is also likely. "We haven't solidified the plans yet but we're headed in the direction where we want to be as close as possible [on PC]," he said.
I'll be getting the 360 version either way, but I still think this is great news. Honestly, I would like to see the original move to PS3 and PC. Mass Effect was just so great, I think it would be a real shame if as many games as possible didn't get to play it.

I think PS3 may only get Mass effect games after the original trilogy ends, seeing that EA is extending it that far, thus draining any fun, originality and credibility the series may have at that time. Because you know, thats what EA does to franchises.

To be fair, I think EA have kind of changed in recent years - I don't think they're the same soul-draining money printers they once were. Except with sports games, obviously.

They will work thier magic eventually. In recent times they have been fortunate to aquire small devs that had some new Ips they could work with( or in the case of viceral games, "allow" them to create a new ip), but you will see these come to a downward spiral soon enough. In fairnes you could say this of almost all IP's, but i think this will come sooner from EA than later.

Your doing it wrong. Activision is the enemy now, not EA.

I cant say that sorry. I can understand your feelings for tonyhawk and all the guitar heroes and maybe MW2(which wasnt really activisions fault for the problems), but the same will happen to the new EA IPs that they have now. There will be a skate 7 and seriously a mass effect 5.
DJ hero is the fuckin shit. Go activision.

I don't know if I would say it is 100% going to happen now....but this is exactly how we found out about Bioshock coming out for PS3 before it was announced.
Also some comment from some anonymous source, who is most likely unreliable. The code is more believable than this, but oh well, here it is:
Quote:
“It’s becoming pretty obvious that EA doesn’t care about keeping this a secret any longer so why should I keep shut? EA and Bioware wanted Mass Effect 2 on PS3 alongside 360 from launch day but certain constraints with Microsoft wouldn’t allow them to do that, however before the year is out, Mass Effect 2 will be on PS3.”
I predict that they'll release the whole trilogy on a single Blu-Ray when the 360 trilogy is all said and done. To release ME2 on its own would be bordering on the ridiculous.
About ME2 or the PS3? Because I really held myself back on pointing out that there's only been one real game that 360 owners have wanted ported from PS3.
ME1 vs ME2, I've come to accept that they're two different games, with different tones to them and that's how I rationalize all of the changes.

I was talking about ME2, but I have kind of the same outlook as you now. Which game are you talking about anyway?
