The 60 gig can play ALL ps1 and PS3 games because it has the Emotion Engine. The 80 gig uses software emulation which can play a lot of the games, but there may be a few issues with some. Updates can fix that though, and more games get added every update.

The hd-dvd 360 will be very expensive. Im thinking if they added it to the elite, it would cost $600+.

I'm not sure if it does or doesn't, but if it does, that sucks for me. At least I can delete it.

Basically the 60 gigger is still the best quality PS3 out. IT can play around 99% of all ps2/ps1 games, with a few exceptions. Most of the exceptions are little things like bad frame rate, dropped audio, etc. However, about like 10 games can't be played and all of the game enhancers freeze on the PS3.

i tried playing socom on my ps3 the other day. it took like half an hour to set up. because i needed to set up a memory card, then download the socom update (which downloads faster than on ps2) but i had to download it like 4 times. and when i finally got on socom, there were less than 5000 people on. and the only game i got into, people were spawn camping.

Well that is the ****** games problem, not the PS3. :p

I am past Socom, I look back and I can't understand why I played that game as much as I did. >_<

I know this isn't directly on topic, but which PS3 is the best, at the moment?

The 40 is 400, with less features. The 60 and 80 are both 500 and the 80 comes with Motorstorm.

I still say pick up the 60 gig. A ton of stores have deals where you can get a free controller with it, or a free game. Just look around, because a lot of stores want to get rid of the few remaining 60 gigs, because to the average consumer the 60 gig at 500 will look like a bad deal next to an 80 gig with a game at 500.
