Encumbrance in Socom
In Socom 1 and 2, we did not have encumbrance, but with the S3/CA, it was a new feature. Below are three different modes of a weight system that are possible. Which do you prefer?
1. No encumbrance, which Socom 1 and 2 had.
2. Constant encumbrance, which S3/CA had.
3. Dynamic encumbrance based on what you're carrying at any given time. For example, if you use an item, you will move faster.
I strongly think the third option should be put into the game. It is very unrealistic that we still carry the weight of objects minutes after we have disposed of them.
Common arguments against this are that people will load up on mines, deploying them at the beginning. They then have the advantage of mines and a steady speed. However, if we had the first option, this would be a bigger problem. Socom 3/CA's system has to go.

Exactly the way it should be.

Not a big deal, because all the mines will be in their spawn.

True, plus, with S1/S2's system, they would not only have the advantages of mines, but they would not be weighed down by them.

I wrote this in a different section already but I will post it here since its supposed to be. I absolutly hate this feature I mean realistic Yes. But they need to fix it a bit. I love sniping thats all I ever did but on the new socom I would choose the M87ELR and I couldnt choose any thing with out moving 2mph I hated it I say either fix it or get rid of it... It would be cool if they had like a gym and you could max out and get stronger LOL.

Yea but its a video game it isn't real life. I want to be able to choose a gun and add a decent scope. When you do a vicotry dance do you say this doesn't happen in real life.

I am exactly the type of m-fer that would do a victory dance on the carcass of a fallen foe, provided that the area is clear, just as I did in Socom. That's just how I roll.
You saying that it shouldn't matter that the gun weighs 30lbs is like saying that RPGs and AT4s shouldn't have weight associated with them either. If that's the case, I want to be able to carry 50 RPGs.

The guns should have a weight but they should give alittle lee-way. Alot of people love sniping and when s3 came out alot of my sniping friends said its not worth it on this game. Rpg's aren't bad to me because I dont use them but I'm sure people that do use them alot hate it. I just say make our Navy seals a bit more stronger then.

If you have to lug around a 30 pound rifle (not including the scope, ammunition, other equipment, sidearm, etc.), in real life or Socom, you're not going to be able to run as quick as others. The weight for the sniper rifles should be toned down just a tad, though. I hate not being able to carry anything in my quipment slots but smoke if I want a decent sidearm.
I'm all for realism, but the game needs to be fun and balanced, too.

I agree with you on #3. The weight should change whenever you drop something. It is very unrealistic when you use all your equipment and still walk at the same speed.
