I read earlier today (no link, but you know me), the drawing is for 85,000 slots. If you don't get in the beta on this round, there'll be a couple other chances later.
Videos of beta play are all over youtube, like your mom at my house.
I particularly love this one, in which some dude demonstrates the super easyness of quicksniping in the game, coupled with the fully automatic sniper rifle.

My only hope is that weapons will be restrictable by the host, as they are in GRAW.

My brother has the 360 now, so I won't be able to play with whoever got the beta right now. We will be swapping the Wii and 360 when I am done with Metroid Prime 3. xD
