about the destructible environment thing...i dont want it to mess up gameplay either. I would like it if there were objects around that shatter (not necessarily cause an explosion) if you spray bullets on them. Say if i threw a grenade at those chairs in crossroads, i would like to see them shatter into pieces and fly off. I just want stuff to catch fire (for example that car) so it gives a warlike experience to capture the chaos of the battlefield. Maybe not to a degree like killzone so that it messes up the socom experience but a bit of touches here and there to spice things up

I agree with the two of you and I'm sure they will pull something out of that hat for this.
We can't expect buildings to crumble when enough explosives go off against it's support beams, etc. but hopefully something that will capture the chaos of war, like you said, Navy.

I think Slant Six should borrow an idea from Insomniac (who made Resistance Fall of Man) and make only certain small items destructable... like small walls and barriers. To me, it totally adds to a more realistic experience... there's nothing like blasting a shotgun at someone (close range), and seeing the corner of a nearby barrier fly off as the opponent falls to the ground dead.

The guys move like they are stiff, Doesn't look to have the socom feel. I'm not excited about this game, and I probably won't buy it.
Looks like a big letdown to me..

Allstar, to judge a game in its pre-alpha stage and say it's a let-down is a pretty sad point of view.

If it isn't socom 2 without c9 then it won't be a good game.

Socom 2 sucks. I can't play a game where you have to hit someone 6-7 times on your screen to actually kill someone.

I usually don't judge games for how they look, I just deal with it. But, since its the Playstation 3 why not. I can't really judge, since this is not close to a final version. But, I would like to make some suggestions and point some things out. Like mentioned before, I would prefer to see better movement animations. The characters in the video look to stiff. Another thing I would like to see is adding more buildings. If you noticed in some parts you can see the outer map. This will probably will be fixed but, I am just pointing it out. The character jump animation looks kinda weird. The environment looks pretty empty, I hope they add more objects to take cover behind. Ive seen some destructible objects/places. When he was standing inside the building overlooking the seals medical tents(Bomb Base) through the window he was shooting and chipped some paint off of the building. Luisi said that not many buildings will be destructible because players will exploit and make it unequal for the opposing team.

Seconded.
ModernCombat, I agree with most of what you said, but I'm not too keen on adding more obstacles to hide behind. Socom is not a "stop and pop"/"sneak and peak" shooter. I don't want it to be like Vegas where you always are hiding behind a wall, popping out to shoot for a few seconds then hiding again. I don't want to get shot from behind all the time either. Whenever I played S2, I would always clear pretty much everything around me on the way to a base or something similar. It was fun cause you were always on your toes, and still moving at a very fast pace. A few obstacles like the barriers they added to the left and right roads near the terrorist spawn would be cool, since they are knee height and can still be used for cover/hiding places; but I don't want the map too be too cluttered for snipers either. Sniping was fun as heck in crossroads back in the day, but It would loose its edge if there was too many places to hide/cover behind.
