Did Socom keep you loyal to Sony & the PS2?

I was just reading another thread about Sony buying Zipper, and one of the posters mentioned that the only reason that he didn't buy an X-Box was because of Socom.

I happen to feel the same way, and I wonder how many others are completely loyal to Sony.

If not for the Socom series, I was just about done with the Playstation 2.

I would have bought an X-Box by now for sure, but I won't even consider it as long as we have Socom.

Me too, I feel that way. If it wasnt for socom, I wouldnt have a playstation 2.

Yes Sir, if i they woudn't of came out with socom i don't think i would of been waiting for ps3, i would of got xbox360 and play some halo

My enthusiasm for the ps2 was really starting wane about 6 months ago and with the prospect of Xbox releasing the 360, I was serioulsy starting to consider jumping consoles. I never had a ps1, I got my ps2 in 2001. I had not played Socom I or II online b/c I only had a dial-up connection at home and I knew from pc gaming that dial-up would not cut it for online. When high-speed connection cost started dropping I began entertaining the thought of getting it for the house. I am not a big fan of paying for stuff 2x since I already pay one DSL bill for the office.
I went ahead and got DSL for the house and as soon as it was activated, I went straight out and bought S3. I verified an account and I have not taken the S3 disc out of the machine since. I play 4-6 times a week for at least 2 hours a shot.I have even thought about swinging by gamestop and grabbing Socom II so I can check out the maps everyone raves about from that edition of the game.
I will absolutely not move over to Xbox and am eagerly anticipating the release of the PS3. I plan on getting one as soon as I can get my hands on one for a fair price.
Every thought of jumping to Xbox has completely vanished as a result of Socom. Add to it today's news of the sony-zipper deal, the thought of an Xbox is like a fart in the wind!

I had a PS1
Socom
Free monthly online
Microsoft sucks

For all you people who are switching from Ps2 to 360, you're missing out!
Releasing 360 earlier than PS3 was a BIG mistake for ol' Bill. Sure it will get it's hype sooner and more people wil already have them when PS3 comes around, but now Sony has the ability to go analyze a 360 and make their own product better!

Metal Gear, Grand Tourismo and SOCOM, in that order, are why I'll stay loyal to Sony and their systems... Most of the other games are multi platform any how... But these three are exclusive. And the free online is great as well... Though XBox live is a great service as well... It tracks everything and you only have one account for any game. If you're a **** in one game, your account get's flagged for every other game as well. I find it helps with the ignorant people out there... Apparently if you mess around to much it's very hard to find games to play because certain game rooms only allow people with a certain "good gamer" level.

P.S. As a side note, Sony is planning a huge launch with a huge number of untis. Apparently they want to make sure that who ever wants one, will get one apon release... Not a bad idea seeing as how the PS2 has sold over 300 million units world wide.

Socom isnt the only reason I play PS2, but its about 75% of the reason. I dont really play that many other games. I thought about getting an xbox, I am in no way against the xbox. I dont like Bill Gates but I'd still get an xbox if a game that came out for it really caught my attention. Im going to get a PS3 and I'm not going to get a 360. I just feel sony produces a better quality "gaming experience" since online is free and the online system is bearabe.

I just dont like the setup of XBOX, and the system in general. I dont stay with the ps2 because of SOCOM, but simply because I dont like the XBOX or the gamecube.
