I want to get my boyfriend an XBox 360 game for Christmas, but I can't afford the new Assassin's Creed. I know he likes that game (and also Grand Theft Auto, if that's helpful), so what game would you suggest I get for him? I don't want to ask him too many questions about the games he wants because I don't want him to suspect anything. :)

    Thanks!

Assassins Creed as well as Grand Theft Auto are classified as open world "sandbox" games. This means that while you have main missions as well as numerous side quests to keep you busy you are also free to roam around cities at your own pace and interact with everything as if you owned the place.

If money is an issue then you can start with Assassins Creed II if he hasnt already played it. I also recommend the highly underrated Saboteur which is a sandbox style game that takes place in Nazi occupied France. The Saboteur is almost a perfect mix of both Assassins Creed and Grand Theft Auto and you can probably get it new for under 20 bucks.

    Hope this helped.

Thanks for the suggestions! He's kind of obsessed with having good graphics, so maybe I'll get him Saboteur. He's already played Assassin's Creed II, but he's been talking about the new one non-stop, which is why I wanted to get it for him. I just can't afford to pay $60 for it.

You know what? Since you're on a budget, why don't you just get him a Gamefly subscription? This way, he can play the new Assassin's Creed, and basically any other game he wants, whenever he wants, for however long he wants, for only 8 bucks a month.

I vote Gamefly or LA Noire, since it's been out for A while I bet you can get a good deal now.

There is also last years Assassin's Creed Brotherhood which takes place after AC II and before this one that just came out. Seems like a logical choice and you could probably get it for 20-30 bucks.

If he likes violence and brutality I also recommend Prototype. It is another open world extravaganza that takes place in Manhattan but is one of the most chaotic games I've ever played. Excuse my language but you get to really **** **** up in epic proportions. The sequel is due out next year so there may be some interest. You could probably get it for less than 20 bucks.

As for the recommendation of LA Noire that may or may not be a good choice. It received tons of praise for what it is and you can get the gold edition for 40 bucks. Even though you can travel around LA in open world style there really isnt much to do like in all the other games that were suggested. Personally I hated it and thought it was tremendously boring and I still to this day have yet to finish it even though I have video game completion OCD. Of course I'm pretty much the only person on earth that hated it so take it for what it's worth.

I would say Battlefield 3 is the better option If you care about him a lot, so never compare it with the money because the game is SO Amazing it would definitely touched him inside.

Saints Row and Saints Row 2 are like GTA, but with a great sense of humour. I love them, and they're dirt cheap now.

    Cheers Raavyn for the sig!

If he enjoys racing games, why don't you think about Forza 3, F1 2011 or Driver: SF. These games are cheap to buy now.

But, if you want to get a game with abit of stealth in, like Assassin's Creed games, then there's Splinter Cell: Conviction or Deus Ex. Both of these games have stealth in them.
