I personally have played through the game and absolutely love it. I'm hearing a large number of people not purchasing this game. More surprising is the majority of these people are MW and CoD addicts. Why is this? Any of you out there in the same boat?

While I'm looking forward to purchasing one of the greatest shooters ever put to plastic disk, I know the PC community is seriously up in arms and boycotting the game over IW's decision to abandon dedicated servers for PC players.

For me, it's plain and simple... I've never been much of a COD fan, so that's why I'm not purchasing MW2. Then there's the fact that I just have too many other games that I should be playing before I even think about spending another $60 on a new game.

Blame part of my reasoning on the economy, if you want to...

Extremely noob friendly. Puts everyone on the same level. Who sees who first (Basic in all shooters of course) But MW takes 'who sees who first' to the extreme.

Will it be fun? Fuck yes. But once you learn the maps, in about two months time...you realize everyone is basically on the same level, and it all comes down to:
    1) Seeing the person first
    2) Reaction time (Which is enhanced 10x by hip firing, but the majority don't realize this)

It's great whenever you play in a group of friends, I mean that goes for any game at all. Do I like to have fun? Hell fukkin yes. Fun describes MW2 bluntly. But there comes a point where I want gun fights, not stop, aim (plus auto assist), pop, and drop. Theres zero intensity and clutch moments in this, maybe in S&D there is.

I'll probably borrow it or play at my friend's/cousins house which I know for a fact. Buy it? CoD Modern Rehash is not worth it.

    P.S.

I forgot to mention from what I've read...PC gamers are pissed about two things:

    1) No dedicated servers (Think SOCOM-esque lobbies where you get to choose your games and crap, and replace it with the auto-match making)
    2) No mod support (Which is probably PC games' bread and butter. To take that out, is like cutting off a man's eggs. It's crucial to PC gaming in general)

UK gamers at least, are pissed that the RRP for MW2 was upped to 55 (usually it's 50, but shops usually knock at least a tenner off, and online is even better). What's ironic though is that there's currently an insane supermarket price war going on that is making it probably the most discounted game in the history of the world. We have two supermarkets selling it for 26, which is shocking for any new release, let alone one like this, one for 25 with the purchase of another game, and one for 32. Amazon are also selling it for 32. This has pissed off the dedicated game shops who are selling it for between 44.99 and 49.99, but to hell with them.

I'm taking a punt. I loved COD2, thought 3 was OK, and 5 was better. I never really had time for MW1. But if I don't like MW2 I'll just trade it for something else, no big deal. I won't be making as ridiculous a loss as one normally makes trading in, at any rate.

    Cheers Raavyn for the sig!

There are plenty of clutch moments in S&D, trust me. But IMO I think you're over-exaggerating the who sees who first ordeal..there's a lot more strategy to the game than that, especially in highly competitive/skilled games.

PS. I agree on the noob friendly part but so many of the perks and kill streak rewards add to that so much more. Take some of the things out except ones that make it more competitive and you have no where as near of a noob friendly game.

The no dedicated servers, think Halo 2 and 3 online - matchmaking system, everyone has 100ms ping except for the host at 0ms ping or whatever, giving the host a big advantage compared to everyone else. Someone like me wouldn't mind this because I'm used to it, but to PC players where every game online has dedicated servers, then you switch to this then yes I can see the hatred.

I used to be like that, never really liked the COD games at all. I randomly tried the COD4 MW Beta and got hooked instantly..it's just something about it that had me loving it, but all the other CODs(including WaW) I just don't find nearly as fun or addicting.

I read your topic on the "Do you play to win or have fun?" Yeah I read all of it!

I just want to clear up how the way I play it, mostly shooters, is obviously to have fun. It's fun when you're on that learning curve and figuring out the kinks to the game and crap. But in the end, once everything is said and done and you do figure it out...I do want that difficulty where its like you haven't really learned "everything" get what I'm saying?

And yeah, I did play a ton of S&D towards the end of my CoD MW days...and I do believe it's probably the only mode where you get that SOCOM clutch moment kinda feel.

Again, I'm not buying it because it's just not worth it from where I stand. But, I will probably borrow it or more than likely play it at a friend's/cousin's house nearby since I'm pretty sure 100% they're likely to get it.

    P.S.

Also the fact that people say there are people still camping for their kill streaks on the first day is just major iffy.
Anybody knows that running around is the way to go.

Running around IS the way to go for sure, especially on first official day of release so you can learn the maps and get a feel for them. Yes the campers are annoying but you just gotta play smart..you can't just run out in the open, no matter how fun that would be doing that and shredding everyone to bits..just run around but slow it down a little, check certain areas and certain spots and make sure you have some type of cover around you in case some chump chilling 2 miles in back of everyone else is sniping at you.

So, I my calculations were right I did go to a nearby friend's house to try it out, instead of complain and not try it at all.

I REALLY like the diversity of the weapons. The new perks are pretty good from what I've tried.

Although the killstreak is supposed to probably be the biggest change, I see it changes a whole lot of people's mindsets. Instead of camping, people camp some more for the killstreaks. It's ridiculous enough that I didn't know jack about the maps (But I was MVP on my team every single time, if not top 3 ^^ )

The one thing I had hoped they'd fix up, was the hit detection. Especially when you see like you're pumping someone up in the chest full of SMG rounds and it doesn't register, and then they kill you with one two shots to the body? Atleast give a double KO if both people shoot at the same time ya know.

The one thing I noticed for sure was to avoid TDMs at all cost. I found the other game modes more active since there is an objective.

I WANT to like it, but it's still not there for me because of the very small little things.

I got MW2. I'm so disappointed with it, I can't tell you. I'll trade it for something else at the end of this week. Either Assassin's Creed II or Tekken 6 most likely.

I wouldn't worry about that, just play smart and you'll do fine. People say the M16 is overpowered(unlocked at level 40) but I'd say it's strongest point is from far far away..the FAMAS is similar to the M16, only maybe not so powerful, and you can use that at level 1. SCAR is full auto, you can use that at level 1 also. All the weapons I see people using are FAMAS, SCAR, M16, either the Barrett .50 cal sniper or intervention sniper, or some random SMG(ump, mp5, p90). From my experiences playing all the weapons you unlock aren't "these really good weapons", they may be a little bit better but nothing and no one is unstoppable. You'd be missing out bigtime by not picking this game up.

Personally I was not a die hard fan of the first one, it was a good game but I wasn't spastic about it. So I shall pass on this one.

What's the reason you're not purchasing MW2?
