Every once in a while my xbox will just freeze up, and I have to restart it. It's not RRoD, and it's not overheating, because it happens within only an hour or two sometimes. Plus, I have a fan, so I really doubt it's overheating.
It seems to happen most while I'm playing Saints Row 2, but it happens with all games.

Any ideas as to what's going on?
If you have a cooling fan on your 360 i suggest you take it off, when i had one it would only make my 360 freeze, and make sure theres a nice wide open space where your 360 is standing.

Exactly. Also, the 360 cooling fans suck up more power from your 360, there not a good buy at all.
I have the problem with my 360 that it likes to crack the inner circle of most of my disks. I've come to the conclusion that Micosoft can't produce a good gaming console, there's just too many problems with them.

Yeah but if you're lucky your 360 won't be defective lol, a lot of them do have problems though, luckily i've never experienced one.

My Xbox used to freeze up during Saints Row 2 too. Oblivion and Saints Row 2 were the worst. I actually got bored yesterday and had some free time and popped SR2 in for an hour or two and it just happened then too.

Lucky you, I'm on my third 360. I keep getting new ones every time I get the RRoD because of my 2year warranty at BestBuy. I usually expect the RRoD about every year to year and a half, lol.

Make sure your power brick/supply is in a well ventilated area, I have a friend with the same problem. He goes as far as hanging his power supply on the wall and having a fan blow on it.
I don't live in an extremely hot area, but it can sometimes get pretty fucking hot. I know it's not the heat effecting the 360 'cause I consistently have the AC on in my room, and my room isn't very big. Also, my 360 sits on a stand by itself not to far from the AC unit, while at times it can run quit hot, for the most part it stays pretty cool.
