2008 Dashboard Update - New Xbox Experience - November 19th


Mine as well get a head start with this "Impressions" thread since its suppose to be a pretty big update. ( November 19th, 2008 )

What are you looking most forward to with the update ? The group joining and avatar thing seems pretty cool. But I have a feeling im going to hate it at first trying to find stuff all over again. Kind of like when they change the aisles of where the food is at in grocery stores.

My guess is the servers will be down a lot (overloaded) atleast through the first few days.

Gotta love my positive thinking, eh..

The amount of Bandwidth for that alone seems extraordinary . Especially with the large amount of people that will be trying it out on the first day.

If everything runs smooth and dandy from the start, they deserve a lot of applause for it. I highly doubt it will be... Which means it'll affect our online games as well.... COD , GOW2 ...

They have been allowing people to download the NXE in waves before, through the Major Nelson preview thingy. Now ANYONE that signed up for it got it yesterday, and many people are randomly getting the ability to download it early.

Seems as if they are trying to lighten the inevitable strain on the servers.

I am really looking forward to the avatars, but the part I am really looking forward to is party chat. It is going to be nice to have a few friends in chat and not have to hear all the other 12 year olds singing. I am excited for the new look, not that there is anything wrong with how it looks now I am just looking forward to change.

True that. They all seem childish looking from the previews.

My main concern is the navigation. I like the way it is now... How time consuming will it be to find the New Releases, new demos , game videos and such.. Hopefully they'll do it right.

As much as I dislike the new layout (Like a crappier Windows Aero), it will probably be much better than that slow and clunky blade system.

PS3 sacrificed prestine organization for fast and sleek. The 360 is slow and cluttered, but is well organized.

Hopefully NXE kind of meets in the middle.
