This is probably one of the worst ideas I have heard for video games in a long time. When me and my friends talk we all ways use curse words, not in an offensive way but that's just how we talk when we play halo or gears. If the actually implement this and it turns out it does work that is the day I will be getting rid of Xbox live.
I imagine there will be some kind of filter to allow friends to cuss you out, but for far away idiots to be bleeped.
People need to settle down, at the moment it's only a patent that's been granted. Nothing more. Everything else is just idle rumour and speculation. Nobody has any idea how it will work and yet people are already threatening to ditch Live becuase of it. Damn.
Cenorship WTF#$% Whats next, Prison time for being a suspected Communist online ?!?! (i.e. Red Scare) BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU!
I dont have a 360 but I strongly dissagree with even an IDEA of voice censorship on live.
*mutters* and this is the adware driven, great service that 360 owners pay for.

So I believe once u start playing online you will be hooked on the drug that we socomers call So-crack. Its just that addictive. PSN name: Paul_MooneY Rollin w\ [DPG]
THis article is being blown way out of proportion. companies get patents for **** all the time and they never get used, but like has been said, we have no idea what they are going to use it for, but can only speculate on at this point. Im pretty sure they know the pros and cons of the patent, and may use it as noted, or for some other use, or maybe not at all. All im saying is, dont expect the ESRB to be rating online interactions any time soon, so stop jumping the gun.
I also cant stand it when people say theyd rather not have voice than hear idiots. The idiots are only a small price to pay for quick communication. And besides, its not annoying people are an epidemic or anything, it just seems like it.

Tell me if i've just misunderstood, I'm pretty hungover and grouchy right now
WE were just poking fun at how Microsoft is attempting to censor chat. We were going at a what next, are they going to totally stop allowing online chat.
I think it's stupid. Plain and simple. They have that "report gamer" (or whatever it is) thingy for a reason. Hell, they have a "Bad or Offensive Language" option in there. If you don't like what a person says to you, report them and check the "Avoid Player" thingy. Simple as that. If you know that there's a little kid in the room, try to avoid using offensive language, even if they use it. If anything, you can always mute the little b**tards.
Does feedback really do ANYTHING? Not once have I heard of someone getting anything from microsoft about feedback. Only once or twice I've heard of them making people change their names.
And now that I thought about it, I say the "f word" about 6 times in every sentence. It's just a habit. And this probably won't help much when people are trying to understand me lol.

Oh yea, people get banned all the time because of feedback, happened to me once on the origional xbox (sore loosers sending me up for review in every game i played) and i got banned for a week. I saw an article on xbox magazine, where they actually called a kids mom up and told her what the kid was syaing and doing LOL.

That's so weird. I've never actually heard of feedback working. I never really bother sending feedback unless the person is really getting me frustrated. Usually I just mute them first, and then just forget about it anyway lol.
Too bad it was Reggie from Microsoft Consumer Affairs in Bangladesh with the foreign accent and they couldn't understand what he was saying.
lol, but really, it was one of the guys in charge of security on an article about how the team bans people and uses feedback. Im gonna try to find that mag but basically they said that they do often play games undercover and ban people, aside from the LIVE autobans for cheating, feedback, etc. There are millions of people on live, and if you havent been or know anyone who has been banned, your probably part part of the majority of users who are smart, or your probably just over 15.
Speaking of which theres this one kid i had to delete from my list because hes currently banned from playing matchmaking on halo. Its seems he sent too many bad feedbacks in a week, and i mean alot. Hes banned for a few months.

Ugh thats why there is a mute feature, its so you can just mute the person in question.
Why does Microsoft feel the need to play big brother and ban or censor things like that. I just hope this feature is better then some of the internet filters I have seen. One filter actually banned words like button, god, devil, noob, n00b and other words along those lines.
I know Microsoft is only trying to help and make the online experince enjoyable for everyone but sometimes it never comes out that way. Lets just try it out and see how it works if enough of us dont like and act mature about who knows Microsoft might lift the censor.

5,000 gamers can build fences, clean up streets, and do charities for the town.
1 gamer can kill his classmates at school because people were mean to him.
That 1 gamer will ruin the reputation of the other 5,000.
So no matter how big the number, 1 will always be greater.

I think that trial has already taken place. People don't act mature on Xbox Live, and that's the reason for the censor in the first place. If people did act with level heads and behaved themselves, a censor would be completely unnecessary.
omg, I was wishing so much that was implemented yesterday when I was playing FFA on COD.
All I heard on the mics for 5 games in a row were "yo yo nlgga" , "u hurd?" , "chek it" , "i'll fok u up" , "we be representin" , "bust a cap in yo azz" , "west side" .
Maybe the filter wouldnt even catch that kind of stuff...
I am not a fan of censoring curse words but if we could some how censor slang, Ebonics, and other unintelligible language that would probably help out a lot.
