One would have thought the legal catfight between Microsoft, Sony and Immersion over the inclusion of rumbling technology in their respective controllers was over when Sony and Immersion struck a deal in March to possibly incorporate the ditched feature into SIXAXIS -- but it's not. CNET broke the news earlier today that Microsoft has filed a suit against Immersion for not living up to the terms of a previously negotiated deal that had Immersion paying Microsoft in the event of a settlement with Sony.
To sum it up for you, Microsoft bribed Immersion to not let Sony have rumble, now that Sony and Immersion are in agreement (And are allowing Sony to use rumble), Microsoft sues Immersion.
Ahh, same old tactics pulled out by the evil Microsoft. They are being childish. We can't have what we want, SO WE SUE AND PAY EVERYONE OFF......Throwing money in peoples faces.

Turns out, Immersion anticipated this response all along. Once a settlement with Sony was reached in late March, Immersion modified their 2006 annual report with a statement proclaiming they no longer felt obligated to pay Microsoft anything related to their legal settlement with Sony
And people are all gung-ho about PS3 not having rumble, when they couldn't. (no matter where they went, they'd have to pay somebody, because of copyrights, etc)
Another instance of Microsoft's childishness, is their paying 50,000,000 to secure episodic content ONLY on the Xbox 360 for GTAIV.
Microsoft is just a ridiculous company, who claims that the Failure rate is 3-5%, and would do anything to get their console on top.

Yah I mentioned the 50,000,000 thing over in the GTAIV thread.
Microsoft refuses to admit that the 360 has problems. They stray away from questions regarding it, or claim that the 360 doesn't have hardware issues. If they fix it, that is the same as admitting they messed up, which they won't do.
They are children with a lot of money, they go into a candy store, want all of it, they buy the candy store and ruin it for everyone else. They don't want Sony to have rumble, which it has had before, so they pay off immersion. Now when immersion makes a deal with Sony, ***** MOAN CRY, We will SUE YOU!
Microsoft is trying to become a Monopoly, god I ****ing hate them.
Wow, just wow. I've alway hated Microsoft as a business (like my 360 ok), and this just kinda makes me want to blow them up even more. After all the bitching people did about no rumble (lots of it here actually), Sony really couldn't do anything about it due to Microsoft shaking in their proverbial boots at the thought that Sony's SIXAXIS would have tilt AND rumble...and then paying off Immersion to ensure Sony wouldn't get it. Thats ****ing ridiculous, and I don't want to give them any more of my money.

I feel the same way. Microsoft is just evil, flat out. But I am done talking about this ****. It always ends up in some stupid debate, which leads me to have to type a lot.
The business world is a cold and evil place... I think it's time some people out there get over it already.
If it were the other way around, people would be saying the same thing about Sony. And if you ask me, it sounds like a smart move by Microsoft... it's not like Immersion was forced with a gun to their heads to make an agreement with Microsoft over the rumble feature in the first place.
Immersion is eaqually to blame. Actually when I think about it, Microsoft's Lock is actually what steered me towards buying a 360 because I wanted to play a Next-gen system that had rumble and I was severly dissapointed when I found out about the Crapaxis Controllers for the PS3.
It's survival...you do what you got to do to kill the competition.
As far as Hardware issues...Microsoft will never admit to them, just like when you get into a car wreck you don't admit fault...it's bad for business. I'm not going to shake my fist at the sky for something I can't control and have money already invested...I'll just happily play the games and hope nothing breaks.....again
Hmm... I would have to agree with the last few comments. Everyone is bastardizing Microsoft for "bribing" Immersion into just selling them the tech. But at the same time, said company, accepted the bribe, and then initiated a breech of contract (a company as large as Microsoft is not going to strong arm anyone, they've already been broken up once now, as being considered said monopoly). Immersion being sued is no big surprise.
And you can sit here and call any huge business evil, Wal-Mart, any store in your local mall pretty much. It's the way of life, the dollar is what drives everyone. Name one industry that doesnt do the same exact thing as these guys do. The more money you can make, the more money you can put in your pocket. Sadly, most of the big-wigs in these corp. have no morals whatsoever. The dollar drives everything in this country.
Its not that it wasn't a good move, or that I don't applaud Microsoft for being so good at being the evil corporation, but its just downright ****ing STUPID AND IGNORANT (now that I know the real story) for people to ***** AND COMPLAIN CONSTANTLY about the PS3 not having the rumble (yet) because they literally couldn't, it wasn't a matter of them just not doing it like most 360 fan boys (and some PS3 owners) had thought.
The biggest complaint that I have with the Sixaxis controllers is it seems to me like they were engineered with only nine year old Asian boys in mind. They seem like cheap imitations of even old school PS1 controllers... I can't tell you all how many times I am "accidentally" pressing other shoulder buttons when I don't mean to be pressing them... I guess it is my fault that I am a 5'10" tall American gamer?
And after playing my brother-in-law's Nintendo Wii this past weekend, I feel that the Sixaxis controller is a crude attempt at motion sensing... that Wii controller was so intuitive and a blast to use, it makes me want a Wii before I even think twice at picking up a PS3.
As a matter of fact, I will probably have a Wii within the next week, or a week and a half.
It's so funny to see children labeling this as bribery.
Here's how the whole thing went down:
Microsoft and Sony start using rumble in their controllers. Immersion comes along and says "hey guys, we invented that stuff. Where's our cut?"
Legal battle ensues.
Microsoft then says, "Ok, Immersion, if we settle and pay you for the technology, you've got to agree that you're gonna owe us some money if Sony ever decides to settle as well."
Immersion then says, "Ok, we'll sign that contract giving you exclusive rights to this technology."
It's kinda like the iPhone, which comes out 6/29. AT&T paid a lot of money to have that phone exclusive to them (I know because my company had first dibs, but passed), and if Apple turns around and allows Sprint to sell the iPhone, AT&T would sue.
Breach of contract is breach of contract.
I'm glad to see so many of you are getting a hearty dose Business 101 today.

FINALLY!
Thankyou Omega, for speaking the truth, that is worthy of a sig quote, but its too long, haha.
Sure... just as soon as you learn how to ask me that again in proper English.
But seriously... I've only played Wii Bowling once, and that didn't go very well, to be perfectly honest... now Wii Golf, on the other hand, I hit a hole-in-one on the second hole that I played - needless to say, my brother-in-law was pissed at me after that. The same goes for Wii Baseball... I kicked everyone's azzes in that game.
It was a very fun time playing Wii over the weekend...
