God gave us ears for a reason. SOCOM.

There is a reason why we have ears you know, to LISTEN. This tip might sound stupid to you, but not alot of people do this.
The evironment in Socom makes sound too you know, but not alot of people pay attention to the noises the enemy can make, people pay attention to the little red arrows that appear around the crosshairs when someone shoots or throws a nade.
This works for all types of players Snipers, Campers, Rushers, etc. All you have top do is add one more thing to your to do list. LISTEN.
For example say you were playing Night Stalker and you ran through some bushes and they make a rustle sound right but 3 seconds later you hear them rustle again, now that cant be lag, so it must mean a terrorist is following you.
Heres an example that happend to me in Crossroads, Terrorists, it was a normal game 10 or more people in it. I went straight to the fish market and a couple SEALs were coming through that alley thing with the brown arch. So I ran up behind the box and jump down and they didnt even hear me land and I killed them, and I even wawited a couple of seconds for them to respond the smack noise it makes when you land.
I thought this would be a helpful tip for you SOCOM players out there. Thanks for reading another helpful tip by mc-HAMmer13!!!

I have never EVER heard bushs make noise I think you might be listening to well Also when people land they don't make any noise unless they get hurt falling and unless you have your TV extremely loud your not going to hear that. The only good info is that people should use the red arrows as a direction guide to the fighting.

Edit to what lu said: Most people have there mic on too and they are listening to the people talk so they don't hear those tiny little noises.

Well you have a good point, been covered before but you forgot to mention some of the reasons WHY most players don't hear these key noises. It's not so much they are just watching arrows, it's usually the in game music is on, or they are listening to music on comp,cd players etc. I honestly can't play with music because it's like playing deaf. I mean you can't hear certain things that could have saved your life. So if anything listen to music etc AFTER you die...not before

I turned my music on socom off via main menu, it's a lot nicer, and I hate having to deal with it when it starts to skip.

Pan, you've NEVER heard that? They rustle all the time...I usually listen for footsteps or something, say if I'm camping in hostage building stairs in DG, I want to be listening for the footsteps on the boardwalk so I know he's coming in.

The only things I hear are doors shutting and opening thats what I listen for because I play fish hook a lot. I just got surrouind sound for my room and the noise is much more realistic like it has deeper base it doesn't sound anything like the tv speakers I am still getting used to the new sound.

Whatcha gotta do is get a receiver with a Toslink Optical Input on it, and run an optical wire from the back of the PS2 to your receiver. Then pick up 4 speakers for cheap from Radio Shack and mount them all around you. You can probably get a cheap receiver there too. If you have more money go to a better store like Best Buy or CC. You can also find inexpensive stereo gear in classifieds or Ebay. Just make sure the receiver has the optical input, because otherwise you can get as many speakers as you want but it will still come out stereo - left and right. Optical is true SURROUND sound - left right front back. I'll be honest, I don't have the sickest TV.. 32" flat screen non HD. However I gotta damn nice surround system that probably puts real grenades to shame.

Without the sound on, I can hear alot of neat stuff. If someone is trying to move really silently, and slowly, you can hear thier clothes ruffling (sp?). Even when they switch thier weapon, you can hear the noise of that too. The game is very detailed.

I always listen. On foxhunt, I hang around in a secret spot with my nades out watching the countryside. And if I hear something, I make a move to follow that retarded SEAL. OH YEAH.
