Guide for smoke
Smoke are great to use. There are lots of reasons to use them and for all type of objective maps.

ALL MAPS/OBJECTIVES:

Flag a body: When an ally gets killed near you throw some smoke at his dead body because from what I have seen a rusher will turn around or go another way once he kills someone and sees that smoke because they know someone is near by and they know they most likely will be killed because that person is probably hiding somewhere. Also people near by will notice the smoke and may spot him and if it weren't there they may have not seen him.

Cover mines/claymores: Easy cover your mine with a somke and the enemies will not spot the mine and great to use if you are covering mines that are in the base.

Snipers: If you know where a sniper is and have a rifle and don't want to take the chances just throw the smoke near him because it may either get in his view or land maybe behind him and cause attention to his spot. If he notices the smoke he for sure will move, great to use in blizzard on that mountain in the middle people like to get on. Also throw smoke to provide a safe pathway for you and allies to avoid snipers. This is great to use in crossroads to aviod snipers sniping in the spawns.

Escape route: If you or an ally near by is taking too much than he can handle then throw smokes in his fire fight and tell him to get the hell out of there, me and a clan mate do this all the time and it works great if they don't die before the gernade smokes up. If you are in trouble get behind something and throw the smoke very close to you.

Cover the objective: if you are extracting then throw smokes on the hostages, if you are planting the bomb throw smokes on it.

DEMOLITION:

Planting the bomb: Throw a smoke as you or an ally is plantint to aviod being shot and also throw smokes on the bomb after it has been planted and plant mines/claymores if you have them.

Getting the bomb: If you see the bomb and you are going to pick it up throw a smoke on it because some people watch the bomb and wait for someone to pick it up and snipers watch it too.

BREACH:

Seals:
-Use the "Planting the bomb" tactic.
-Breach: When you are going to plant C4 throw smokes on the break to make sure no one shoots you as your planting it, great to avoid snipers especially in sujo.
-Use the "Getting the bomb" tactic.

Terrorists:
-Use the "cover mine/claymore tactic.

SURPRESSION:
Refer to ALL MAPS/OBJECTIVES

ESCORT/EXTRACTION:
SEALS:
-Use the "cover the objective" tactic.

TERRORISTS:
-Use the "cover mines/claymore" tactic.

Please feel free to add and you can add good tactics for specific maps, this is just a basic guide. Go into details on my tactics if you'd like.

SMOKE OUT!

On a map where a thermal scope is available, if you are pinned into cover drop the smoke... all he sees is a massive yellow cloud and has to zoom out in order to distinguish between man and smoke... some SEAL did this to me today, and it worked a charm

Yep, even if they don't have thermal it still messes them up. I love using smokes to avoid snipers or to throw at their sniping spot.

Beautiful Guide.

I'd suggest PMing AL GIORDINO and asking him if this can be a stickey. I certainly think it should be, nice stuff Dino.

CROSSROADS:
SEALS:
-Use the "getting the bomb" tactic.
-When going to plant and you go up on the left side and go off the broken bridge throw a smoke in the middle of the road and align it with the corner on the right side. Throw it there because for good cover and also people tend to sit behind the indention that's behind the corner so you have to smoke up his view along with any sniper in the spawn. When you run out don't zig zag and waste time just run straight and have that smoke covering you. When you run out on the road do a dip dive in the middle of the road and then jump off the ledge.
-If you are coming from the ally on the far right side throw smoke in the middle of the road again and run along the wall so you are a small target for the sniper because the smoke won't cover your whole path so when you run across jump the ledge or dip dive to that door, i advise the ledge to avoid hitting a mine.
-Use the "planting the bomb" tactic.

TERRORISTS:
-Use the "getting the bomb" tactic.
-If you are going half wall throw a smoke over the wall, but close to the wall where you are covering yourself in smoke when you climb over so if anyone is watchign it with/without a claymore they won't see you.
-If you go over the bridge then throw a smoke in the middle of the road and run to the left entry into the base, this way the smoke will cover you the whole way, you are farther and safer too. Make sure you don't throw the smoke to far to the left to the point where you have to run to it. If you go right you will be having the throw the smoke closer back and be vulnerable from an attack from half wall or the window that you can get to from the bridge.
-If you are coming from the far right alley then I advise throwing a smoke in the ally near the end of it and quickly dip dive when coming out of the smoke and going into the base.
-Use the "planting the bomb" tactic.

Recently I have been using flashbangs and smokes and it's very effective. Flashbangs will blind a sniper if his scope is zoomed on where you throw the gernade, so throwing flashbangs down alleys where a sniper is watching is very effective, I'd throw smoke too, to play it safe. Sorry for the delay, but more maps are on the way.

Great topic, definitely something I've been thinking about for a while, and some great tips (eg. flagging/avoiding snipers, covering hostages, etc.), which I haven't thought of and hope to use soon).

I have to admit that, although the notion of using smoke seems useful, I can't think of any practicle examples of when smoke (unlike M67s, HEs and Flashbangs) would be effective.

What I mean is that, even though I think the tips are great, it seems that a lot of the tips on when to use smoke relate to online playing (where, from what I hear, you have less time and/or ability to, let's say, avoid a sniper, for instance, in which case, dropping some smoke seems helpful). In other words, using smoke seems more essential online that offline. The thing is, I don't play online - yet!

So, does anybody have any good examples of when and where smoke can or should be used in the single player missions? That is, when and where it is almost essential that you use smoke?
