Movement Techniques
I just got done playing a game of Socom and i thought about how people move around when they are in a firefight. I began to realize that i run in a straight line to the left or right and change directions very rarely. Then i looked at other people and they were all erratic in their movements. I would like to be able to do this but i can't think enough to shoot straight and zig-zag at the same time, it's either one or the other. Does anyone else move like me? or can you zig-zag? i was wondering if this comes natural and if i could ever do this without thinking. If you have any special movement techniques can you please share them here? Thank you! :P

Keep and eye out for nades and their pretty easy to dodge! You usually can see them coming and move out of the way or at least dive at the last second. I rarely get killed by nades, their easy to dodge once you get good at it.

If some people are accurate, they can dive on the ground to aviod fire, and quickly kill the other person. This works great in foxhunt, since there is so much grass, that a person can literally disappear by hitting the deck.

Do not constantly fire while running and dodging. Keep your crosshairs in the general vicinity of where the enemy is and let your dodging aim for you. Once you get good enough, you won't really have to worry about aiming too much......you'll just dodge your crosshairs into the target for a quick kill.

Try and keep your crosshairs at head level when you move around. Right now I'm at 49% kills via headshot! and I'm a runner and gunner.

i usually snipe, so if im in a firefight with my pistol i stand and aim. im not gonna be able to pump 20 bullets into him so my 2 or 3 bullets have to count. headshots maybe?

Movement is the most important part of any shooter game.
Movement is the most important because if you don't move - you'll never live longer than 2 seconds at most (supposing you have a hack of some sort). -- sarcasm
In order to know how to move or even have your own style you have to know the layout of the maps (or at least your own way through it, but you should NEVER stick to a single path everytime unless you are just playing for fun and don't care for getting all the kills).
Anyway, supposing you know your way around the maps and such, moving is generally resorted to standing up and running with the control sticks slammed in random directions until your crosshair lines up with the target. That's what I always see anyway. (Very few people remember that they can move and look at the same time) -- truth
The smart thing to do when it comes to movement is to find out where the enemy is aiming (most people just slam a control stick in a random direction... after a long while of playing shooter games you can have a "sixth sense" at figuring out where the enemy is aiming without watching them fire) and going against it or above/over/hiding.
I recommend checking out the chapter in Sun-Tzu's Art of Warfare about Terrain types and areas and such. I learned this stuff way before I even heard of the guy, so I can compare what I know to his writing; it might help you out more.
From there it's just knowing where to hide and where to hit him - key is patience in anything you do.

I constantly jump while im running, unless im trying to stealth it. Though it just makes you a harder target, to snipers and gunners.
