here something i do all the times, but dont notice done alot. When you want to peak right around a corner, (with ur pistol out) you get that long barrel sticking out the corner and giving you away. All you need to do is stand not directly were the wall turns, but a bit more to the left, and then just lean right. the riffle will go from horizontal to vertical, and wont poke around the corner.

Word to the Noobies, choosing Joe Seal in the armoury with that "cool-looking" helmet might as well be wearing a bright green dunce cap because that WILL be a bullseye for some lucky sniper. Don't make stupid mistakes about choosing characters. But look at their clothes and ask, does this have something like a hemlet or a USELESS flakjacket that might give my position away? Seocond the SASR and UNSILENCED SR-25 are the type of rifle that you would use when a rifle like the M82A1A/M87ELR is too close to the target, but is too far for an assualt rifle. For example, in Crossroads if you want to hit those annoying terrors using grenades from the top of the Fish Market, go to the red room, the platform, or the half-wall, or wherever you want and snipe his sorry rear while he's throwing grenades. Third, when it comes to tactics on this thread remember this: Don't follow it like a guideline, if your like that you might as well go back to creating your own X and O plans of strategy for socom 2 maps.

If your on a map where you are to guard a location. Try sniping the enemy once they have bypassed your location so you can snipe them while you are to their backs and hesistating because of the possibility of campers, rushers have a funny habit of falling into this trap repeatedly. and eventually decide to hang back and camp themselves.

When you said "never hesitate", that made me bring something up, there are 2 types of snipers: the quick on the draw ones, like you, who take a shot as quickly as it becomes available, and usually move around more, or the precise snipers, which is more the way I snipe, who try not to shoot until they're sure they'll get the kill, as not to give away their position.
Both work equally well, and everyone who snipes is seemingly born with a preference for one style or the other.
What do you guys do?

It depends, really. If I know im going up against another sniper, I do the "quick on the draw" style of sniping. You've gotta shoot before he does, and do it in a certain amount of time. I've become very nice at quick-sniping and this is very handy.

HOLY S#!T, Big Red 11 i do that exact thing as you do. But when my crosshairs are beside something i just bring it to the direction they are like really fast and shoot, and basicly i always kill em.

every one got some good points. But if you want to be a great sniper then listen up.

First-you need to know the usual places where snipers snipe on both sides.

second-if you dont have a clear shot call them out.

third-instead of following them when scoped in, aim ahead of them and wait for them to cross in your crosshairs and fire! takes a lil practice but its the best way.

forth-and last but not least, dont stay in the same spot if you miss with the m87/82 or sasr/sr25. if you have the sd then you should be alright.
