Just got home from best buy, just bought a 60inch Led/lcd 3d tv. Here's the thing. I NEVER EVER get warranties because its 260 bucks and half the time you never end up using it. But this time i decided to go with the warranty and the buy back program they have and in return I received 2 pairs of sharp 3d glasses valued at 200. The warranty was 270 and the buy back was another charge (i think) lol..

    Original price- 2300
    walked out paying- 2910.

So was I a sucker or did I make the right move by adding 2 years to my warranty?

Thats the tv if any one was interested.

Well, I think you're a sucker overall buying a 3D TV at this precise moment. There may be deals, selective offers, etc, but give it 6 months to a year, and it's gonna be down to the same price as HD TVs were. At the moment, it's all 'get out and buy a 3D TV'. Well, don't, cos there's gonna be better ones for cheaper out in a year or so's time.

yeah, thats the same opinion I have, Plus i've heard of a couple companies that are making or have already made some 3d tv's that dont need battery powered glasses, instead just needing the little cheap ones like you get at the movies.

And I feel like the quality and price will go Up/Down respectively.

I would have waited, but hey, Now YOUR the guy with a 3d tv. and you'll get to reap the benefits for it.

And with the buyback program if something better comes out soon I guess you could always do that then....

I've never in my life purchased an extended warranty for anything no matter what the value.

I won't call you a sucker because if in 2 and a half years time your TV dies I'm not obliged to change my opinion. All I'll say is I wouldn't have gone that way myself purely because that's my preference. I don't know why stores can't refund your extra money or at least some of it if you don't use your extended warranty.

Always get warranties. Always. I don't see the reasoning behind not getting one. It saves your ass if it fucks up/gets fucked up. I don't know about you, but if I spend a couple grand on something, I want it to work until I'm done with it and beyond.

To be 100% honest, it wasn't the 3d that sold me.. In fact i wasn't even looking at 3d tvs. The picture on that tv stood out so well compared to the other tvs. I walked right up to it and made sure it had internet. After losing the Psn and not being able to use netflix it really bothered me. When I went to get the tv I told my brother I wouldn't get glasses for it for at least 6 months. But regardless I wanted Led and all of the Leds cost around the same amount regardless of 3D.

I just think buying a warranty for that much extra is foolish.. But i guess not having it is foolish as well.

Ive been saying this for years and this is why i still dont have a new tv. Honestly, tvs with 3d tech will not come down much within the next 3 years, they will just keep adding new tech to make it expensive until it eventually tops out. If you have the money now i say go for it. with the features these tvs have now he will be extremely satisfied for a good 5 years plus.

I don't support 3D at all. TV's are the only item I get warranties on.
That being said, I always get extended warranties on TV's especially living in Florida with all the lightning. I also highly suggest extended warranties for TV's of that size that you purchase because they'll come right out to your house should there be a problem. I've had my 60inch Samsung TV run out recently and I renewed it again.

I'm Tech Manager at the OfficeMax in my city, and a big part of my job is selling these warranties. At OfficeMax we call them MaxAssurance and they cover everything from accidental damage to malfunctions within the machine. I ALWAYS recommend them on expensive computers and tvs. Doing this will insure that you get the full life out of your investment.

Except then you call Sharp, who contacts a company they contract to do there warranty work, and you have some dickwad like me come out and fix it :).

The extended warranty saved my ass on my first PS3, so I always suggest it. The thing to do is to read the fine print, some of them are bullshit, some of them are legit.

If there's anything I love about Best Buy, it's that. They should be able to do that with what they make off of computers and tvs.

Look at manufacturers warranty, make them read it to you if youre spending that much, and then see what Best Buy offers that they don't
