Not accusing you of lying.. But I have tripped over wires before, pulling them out of walls with out them breaking. You have definitely tripped over this wire more than once .

Out of curiosity, do you have a sound card, or is it integrated to your mother board?

Very small drill with a shallow hole?

And obviously if you're going to use a super magnet, make sure your hard drives are as far away as possible.
