Pick your poison: The new iPod line-up

In the course of an hour today, Apple revamped it's entire iPod line:

From left to right:

iPod Shuffle
1GB / $79
Available in (Red), silver, purple, teal and green

iPod Nano
2" wide screen (320 x 240px)
Available in black, white, (red), silver, teal and green
Full audio/video + coverflow
4GB / $149
8GB / $199

iPod Classic
Full metal Jacket, I mean body
Available in white & black
Thinner than 5th Gen iPods
80GB / $249
160GB / $349

iPod Touch
Same touch interface and screen as the iPhone
Built in Wifi w/Opera browser
iTunes access over Wifi so you can pay high prices for more low quality MP3s
Wireless iTunes store
8GB / $299
16GB / $399

iPhone
As a big F-U to the early-adopters and line campers, and to compete with the new iPod Touch, iPhone price cuts and the elimination of the 4GB model!
8GB / $399

It should be noted that all of the new iPods with screens have a new UI. While browsing through the menus, the menu only takes up the left half of the screen, while the right shows album art, images, and video clips of the media you're browsing through. Not sure if there'll be an update to add this to 5G iPods (I hope there will).

Also, iTunes is getting a big fat upgrade for the iPhones. Now you can create your own ringtones from the iTunes catalog, and put them on your iPhone for $.99.

All models should be in stores by this weekend.

Personally I'm a little disappointed. My 80GB 5G iPod is nearly packed to the gills, and that's all music. I really wanted the iPod Touch, but they opted to go with flash memory to keep it slim. It'd be great if they'd meshed the Touch and Classics together.

Yeah I was reading about this on Yahoo news earlier today during work..kinda makes me regret running out and buying my 2gb nano for like..$180? The iPod touch interests me, I definitely would have waited to buy that if I would've known something like this would come out. If I decided not to I would just go with the new nano, more memory and a smaller price is always good.

I'm really not liking the newer ipods, I think the ipod line peaked at the 5th gen for me. I don't want my screen to be cluttered with useless visual ****, like the mac os. I much prefer the old style list for navigation. Also, the touch screen ruins all the steam they had from the ingenious design of the old click wheel. And the nano? It's gotten worse each generation look-wise. They market it as being a super small version of an ipod. So basically, the only reason they created it was for looks. And then they go ahead and stop doing so, making it a fat piece of **** length wise.

I like the look of the new iPods (or re-do ones) but Im still not really drawn to them.

I think it was funny how Microsoft announced a $50 price tag drop of the Zune within hours of the Apple session, stating they had been planning it for months. I would actually buy a Zune but they are really hard to find over here for some reason.

I think it is safe to say that Apple owns the "MP3/4" market, but for some reason I have never wanted an iPod, and the new designs don't help at all.

Keep on not wanting them, because apparently the UK's getting the ol' in out on prices.

Some relief for the initial iPhone buyers:
Breaking: Apple Offering $100 Store Credit For All iPhone Owners - Gizmodo

Still sticking it to anyone else.

That's the way it goes though. It's just further proof to do your research before buying something. This new line up has been rumored since before summer started.

I did do my research before I got my iPod Nano... I can't help it that I got mine two winters ago, when they were practically first released.

Ahh the perfect thread for some advice.

I've been drooling over the new iPods since they came out a few days ago... perfect timing as I asked for one for my birthday! I ended up getting an iPhone instead. It's still packaged though but they got me the iPhone because the iPod Touch hasn't arrived in the Apple stores yet here in Orlando.

But this iPhone is so damn tempting to open up... I'm thinking it is basically the same thing, yet BETTER. The only thing I'm hesitant about is a better iPhone coming out (with 3G rather than EDGE browsing speed, for example) and me hating myself for not waiting. Should I tear this **** open or get maybe the iPod Classic monster of a 160GB or maybe iPod Touch...

Hmm, I was interested in the iPhone when it came out but then thought, I have a perfectally good phone now why waste money. For me, if i get one, which I probably will end up getting, it will either be the meaty iPod Classic 1600gb or the 16gb iPod touch.

The new iPod Nano's look so fat because of the height
