The processor sounds a bit outdated, I am in no way a fan of those Sempron ones anyway from personal experience. The RAM is a bit low also, but can be easily upgraded. The video card I'm not too sure about since I don't follow the production of them, the rest is fine though I suppose.

We had a couple of eMachines computers when we were over there. The one I had was great until my parents realised it was better than theirs and they decided to swap them and I ended up with a total piece of crap. They then thought it was a nice idea to buy me a Compaq. Isn't hard to understand why I wanted a custom built laptop to my specs and not theirs.

The graphics card you have would probably be an "average" card. It definitely won't run high end games, but some computer games will be computable with it.

To give you an idea of how old your graphics card is, nVIDIA geForce is up to 8800 I believe. However, once you get up past 7600 or so, they are almost exclusively purchased for demanding PC games. So if you don't plan on gaming on your PC, I would say that is a decent card to have.

Actually, they just started rolling out the GeForce 9 Series. Their low end 9600 is already on the market, and the higher end ones (that are supposedly 50% faster than an 8800 Ultra) are coming out any day now.

And Physx, I hate to say it, but your PC kinda of sucks. For a non gamer, or if you just use it to browse the web/play music/etc, it's great, but if you want to play any game at max settings, or if you like to render video, it's lacking.

I just got an e-mail from eVEGA advertising the GeForce 9800, "The World's Fastest Graphics Card." The price is ridiculous though at $599.99.

Well, they can pretty much charge whatever they please, given that they have consistently blown AMD/ATI out of the water for some time now. I've used nVidia since 3dfx went under, and I probably wouldn't switch, but I'd really like AMD to come up with something to rival nVidia's top end stuff, if only to provide some competition and drive down prices.

Also, the Geforce 9 tag is a little misleading - from what I've been reading it's basically two 8800s in SLI in one box. Cheeky, to say the least. But again, with minimal competition, there's much less reason to innovate than there was at the time of the Geforce 7 and 8, so they can pretty much sit back and just watch the cash roll in.
