Make sure you have a professional or other certified person to install your new stuff. Trust me, you can EASILY short out some of these components. Static electricity sucks balls for electronics...

To true my good friend!

I reccomend...
-Intel Processors (The "Intel Core 2 Duo" owns anything out there at the moment)
- Asus or Gigabyte Motherboards. (Anything with a 965 or a 975 Express chipset will do fine for the chip.)
- Western Digital HD's FTW (2x250G in a Raid1 config will Guaruntee you never lose your work or programs. Nothing worse than losing your save game at the end)
- 2G-4G Kingston RAM. (I suggest 2G but you can go as high as your motherboard supports which with a 965 Chipset is 8G I believe. Kingston is the way to go aswell, it never fails)
- Geforce 7300GS and up is good. (You can go the 7300GT or the 7800GT or GTX and anything higher is just godly)
- Creative X-Fi sound cards (are the way to go if you have the money. They come in 4 models. The X-Fi xtreme music all the way to the X-Fi Xtreme Fital1ty.)

Enjoy!!!

Just ground yourself first, or wear one of those bracelets. Ive never had any problems with that.

I've heard alot so far, but my personal suggestion would be (as a graphics card) a Radeon X1800. Excellent for live play, and the rendering frame rate is awesome. On-board ram (768 ram I think.)

Minimun ram requirement is 768, I do believe. Best with over a gig.

Get at least A gig of RAM if your going to upgrade. Personally I'm saving up for 2 or 4, but that's just me. If you want to make a good gaming computer ample RAM is something you must get. If your not from the graphics camp, then I wouldnt suggest upgradeing your Graphics card unless It's really old.
I have horrible experiences with Western Digital

I've done a little more research and pricing, and I'm still liking my original set-up that I was going to go with. What do you guys think of a set-up that consists of the following:

AMD Athlon 64 x2 4200+
250 GB Hard drive
2 GB RAM
Nividia GeForce 7300

That looks like a great setup to me, I'd get it (If i wasn't poor right now). You should be able to run any game fine with that. Just build it yourself, don't buy BS computers that are thousands extra. And don't forget to buy a cool case... ;)

As long as you hold your hand to something metal then there will be no problems but I suggest an earth bracelet. They're about 5 dollars each and will guaruntee you dont shock you motherboard or anything else.

I personally don't want to risk the hundreds of dollars I spent on my electronics, I'm willing to pay the extra money for professional installation. I'm one clumsy *** mother****er.

Want to know a cool way to install your new hardware? Dress up in a sweater and wool socks and moon walk for about 5 minutes before you put it in. Always fun!

Thanks for all your help guys, I finally picked out all the parts that I need from newegg, and hopefully they will be here early next week. I won't need a professional to install anything, since I've done this before and have never had any problems in the past in regards to shorting something out.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a good braclet to wear for installing these components? I might try it and just say they came like it in the mail.
