I've played both. They're hard to compare. Blue Dragon has childish graphics (Which is fine) and the story is pretty cool. The fight mechanics are what you would expect from dragonquest. Lost Oddyssey has great graphics and is more mature, the fight system is smooth and you can really get into the characters. So I guess you could compare LO to FF and BD is kind of similar to Kingdom hearts but a little less dark and isn't influenced as much by FF, it's more anime, like DBZ or Chrono Trigger.
