Battlestations: Midway (360)

What's the point of this game? Is it a shooter, a flying game, what is it?

You command the forces of either the Japanese or American Naval fleet from submarines to airfields and attempt to capture/destroy an objective. In the demo the Americans have to defend a base from Japanese attack. Before the game each side chooses what they're going to command (airstrip, submarine, surface ship, etc). Not the best graphics (especially for 360) and a bit slow but could be fun with the right people.

It's kinda like Risk, but you get to control each individual unit. You can take command of a battleship, and wreak havoc with some heavy artillery. You can pilot a squad of dive bombers, and mess up an aircraft carrier. It's fun. It's a slower paced game, and takes some strategy, but I like it.
It can take a while to get through a MP game though. One of the many I played took nearly an hour to declare victory.

The game comes out tomorrow, check out the demo til then.

I haven't played it on multiplayer yet, but the single player's great. It's hard as nuts though.

For those that didn't notice, on XBL I noticed there was a "Battlestations Midway pinup girl" theme available for download.

This might be the same kind of download Omega and I were talking about the other night, when we expected that "Axe" XBL download to be a half-naked girl theme.

Someone should really get on top of that.

The Battlestations themes are nice though. They're tasteful, and done in the classic illustrated pin-up style (like the chicks painted on old planes). I've got all three, but I prefer the 1st one.

About the game: Did some multiplayer last night. It's awesome when you have a full, 4 on 4 room. There's roughly 8-10 (not exactly sure) different maps, that have their own unique objectives. Some of those appear to be unfairly stacked against one side, but there's a couple that appear very balanced.

So far I'm very pleased with my purchase.
