BEWARE: Guitar Hero players
I was playing GH2 before and I was "getting into" a song and I was really hitting that whammy bar. No more than any sensible person would but it is easy to get obsorbed into the game. I wasnt being an idiot and slamming it from 2 meters away, just moving it back and forward really fast, which is what the guitars should be made to withstand; though it seems not according to the pictures.

1: The whammy bar on the inside
2: The SG controller all pulled apart
3: The piece that activates the spring

The whammy bar is activated by a spring. When you hit the whammy bar, a small piece of plastic hit the spring, extends it and that is what activates a sensor in the guitar, which sends a signal to show the whammy-ing on the screen and giving you more star-power. Mine broke, so now I cant use the Whammy Bar, which I am pretty pissed about but its still under the 60 day warrenty by two days - thankfully. I processed it today (1.11.07) and the warrenty runs out in two days (13.11.07) so it shouldnt cost me anything.

Note to all other "enthusiastic" players, be careful with your whammy bar, as it is very poorly manufactored. And dont even think about saying "it was human error", it was poorly made; what do you expect from crap made in China.

Everything is made in China, nice try on the insult of their country, though.

On topic, that sucks. I've never seen anyone else break their guitar, though, so I don't think what you've done is very common...

I was only using the whammy bar like it is supposed to be used. I'm sending it back anyway so I should have a new one soon.

I had my guitar for both guitar heros and well over a year now and it hasnt shown any sign of being weak or poorly made. My friends whammy bar broke but thats because someone stepped on it. Besides that case the only other whammy bars I have see broken are the ones at Best Buy on display, but people intentionally break those because they have no lives so it doesn't really count.

Looks to me like you pulled a Pete Townshend on that poor guitar controller...

I for one wouldn't blame the makers of it. I'd call this human error, just like with the Wii-motes.

My friends and my brothers friends guitars have misplaced the spring so they have to pull the whammy bar out before pushing it back in again, but I've never seen actual broken ones...

E. It wasnt human error. i was using it just like any other time I did. I didnt go insane or anything stupid that could have recked it.

I'm getting a new one if they have an outlet in Australia or if those douches are paying for the shipping. If I have to pay shipping (which in all hell I better not, their ****ed up controller, they pay) I wont because it will be cheaper to get a new one.

I also got it working a bit so it picks up when I'm whammying but I have to pull it back out but that gets really annoying.

EDIT

Thanks for everything you ****ing cunts. Those paper-pushing monkeys at RedOctane want ME to cover the shipping costs so they can fix the product THEY built, the one that ****ing broke due to poor manufactoring.

[insert angry smileys here]

Really outta do this to em.
