Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King (PS2)
Does anyone have this game and would like to say some opinions about it? It's rated 9.4 by the users on GameSpot, and looks like a really good game. I'm thinking about getting it for Christmas and was wondering what some of you thought about the game.

From the commercials that I have seen for this game, it looks to be like one sweet RPG. I hope to see some opinions of the game posted here soon...

Thought this might help yall make a choice. Pulled this off hodstock.com These are the different posts about it up till today. Enjoy and hope it helps :D

Rented this and so far I like it a lot. Surprized me really. As long as you can deal with the gay anime-inspired hero's face (awww...he's sooo cute!) the games a great old-school type RPG. The cell shading reminds me a lot of Jet Set Radio Future for Xbox. It's like a living cartoon...the screenshots in the mags or online do not do this game justice! You have to see it in motion! All the old Dragon Warrior/Quest sounds and monsters are there so there are some nice nostalgic moments.

Also comes with a FF12 demo...which again bored the heck outta me like most FF stuff does these days

Turn-based, old school RPG but in cartoon 3D. If anyone's played any of the older Dragon Warriors/Quests it's basically the same system but with more features. Random attacks happen a lot (very FFish) and it's so far a good story. Running down roads and across the grassy areas remind me of FF11 kinda but you can't see any of the monsters wandering around for the most part. You can spin your view all around at any time; even during NPC interaction. I'm really impressed with it so far

Dear Dragonwarrior Fans, including myself.....

Buy this Dragonwarrior 8 version ,ill promise you wont regret it ,the Alchemist Pot alone is very funny and a lot of fun to experiment with...All the famm sounds and tunes are there ,from saving your adventure .....
Till the random(well random?) fighting ,and this time human Voices from King tode,Angelo,The sexy girl, she is a blast to listern too,and a lot of other cast voices ,it is a very gripping game..Im at level 21 right now and only bought it 4 days ago..The new pshyching up feature, you can pass your turn to fight and choose this option to increase your attack up to 20 fold ,handy with boss monsters. And the alchemy Pot to cook up and expirement with different ingredients,a blast believe..Overall a totally worthy successor to the Dragonwarrier games.....

Storyline in short:

King Tode the green monster who was transformed together with his fiancee are cursed and are looking for Dhoulmagus the evil Jester that transformed then and their castle..The hero was a soldier in the castle when it happened, and are in hot persuit of the dasterdly Jester that kills wherever he goes.....Offcourse in this game you can gamble for prizes, collect mini medals and all sorts of side quests that really keep this game interesting,my gametime is split between EQA and Dragonquest 8..

Another nice thing is the talking monsters bosses wich are really funny,it ads that interactive flair that just wont let go..Get the Guide though otherwise youll wont be able to remember and know what kind of ingridients to put in the alchemist pot,and mucho more....

I own it and I guarantee you will love it. It's rich, colorful and at the same time has that classic DW appeal. The mobs are friggin hilarious too

Yea i've been playing a lot, i gotta say, this game has that nostalgia, the most apparent is the music, and the title screen! That title screen is amazing, such an old school look.

The voice acting is top notch, you gotta love that scotish guy or something, 'Guv! lol oooooo always with the 'guv!
