Shocked to see that this topic hasn't made its way on the forums, so I guess I'll start it then...
I think it's definitely one of the better games in the series, graphical upgrades aside... and the online lobbies are freaking hilarious. My brother brought over his copy of the game this past weekend, so he could convince me that I should pick the game up again, and I've been hooked ever since!
You make your online persona, and you're then taken to a lobby, where you can actually move your persona around, almost like PSN's home should be... for lack of a better explanation. The two of us followed two people around so much, we must have scared them away... you can make your persona slide down railings, break dance, sit in chairs, take a nap, etc. etc.
It really is good... the only gripe that I have (and it's a small gripe) is the fact that it doesn't support the DS3 controller... aside from that, it really is a good time.
And I stayed up wayyyyy too late playing it last night/this morning... I was really effin tired this morning when I had to wake up for work!
Oh well... time to get back to the game...

Never argue with an idiot, they'll drag you down to their level, and beat you with experience!
Kinda bummered. I sent back Dark Sector today for Hot shots golf, but the game is current at Very Low availability, so I may or may not get it.
Any other game I should put on my list as a backup? Not much out right now, but I never did play Motorstorm (other than just a few minutes, and a demo). Maybe I will get that to hold me over for about a week.
I've been a huge fan of the Hot Shots Golf Series. Out of Bounds is great on the PS3 though I haven't played it for more than an hour or two and have yet to try out the online which I heard is just excellent.
I still play Hot Shots on my PSP every Blue Moon.
Hanging out in the online lobbies is funny all in itself... I look like some cousin of Captain Caveman, or some odd crap.
When I read your original post of this thread I was surprised to hear how expansive the Multiplayer is. I just got through 4-5 of the beginner Single player courses. I've always liked how to have to beat a character to unlock a character and I like the " Pick a Card Unlock a Random Item " lottery system. Very rewarding. The X-Ray Shock look if you mess up your swing is pretty cool. This game is Japanese gaming at its finest.
Can you only create a character in Multiplayer Mode ?
I've been hooked on this game since Friday. (when I got it) Everything Creep says here is true. This game is amazing and unlike any other golf game.
At first I thought the characters were dumb and looked childish. But you forget about that quickly once you get into the game. This game doesnt have the serious / aggravating tone like the Tiger Woods series has. All that stupid commentary and stuff is not in this game.. Yet it still has a moderately technical side to it. When you see screen shots of this game, you think its just some dumb little game with little skill. Which is completely OPPOSITE of what it actually is.
If your burnt out on Call Of Duty or any other shooter game, this is the best game to counteract that. Very relaxing , fun game that you wont get tired of. The online is amazing. The lobby is like a virtual sim environment where you sign up for tournaments and interact with the other funny looking characters until your tournament starts. All official tournaments are up to 50 people. And any tournament that is either G1 , G2 , or G3 will have prizes. Which usually consist of uber gear / clothing that noone else has. Almost adds a RPG element to it. Once you win a prize , you can show it off in the lobby sim enviroment. At which point noobs come up to you asking "how'd you get that?"
There has to be atleast 10 people in the tournament though for there to be prizes awarded. Which isnt a problem.. I've played several with 50 people and they award prizes for the top 10. So far I havent seen any evidence of cheaters. Except for a few fools that glitch in the lobby. which has no effect on the tournaments. I played 10 tournament games already and so many times came SO close to winning a prize. Now im determined to get one.
