You're about three days late, and a few dollars short. The patch has been available for quite some time now... which eliminated the "freeze" problem. I didn't even need a patch... my copy (from Gamefly) works just fine. More than likely, I will purchase the game through GF... especially seeing as how it is a prefectly brand new disc.

In other news, I played & won my first MLB2K6 (online) game last night for this online league that I joined... Cubs beat the Twins 9 to 6 at Wrigley Field. Prior got the win, Pierre scored twice & had two steals...

I think so... especially after you change the difficulty sliders (to what I posted) and have the patch downloaded... I think it's gets the slight edge over the PS2 version - like I said before, it seems more polished than the PS2 version did (to me, anyway).

But if people only have a PS2... it's worth playing after making the changes to the AI.

(Plus, the 360 version has the "new" Busch Field... PS2 doesn't.)

Are those sliders confirmed to make the game seem more like a baseball game or more like the real thing. "Realism" is the question.

I think it seems like actual baseball, personally... check out the 2Ksports.com forums and see that hundreds of other think about the slider adjustments.

The game is a blast now matter how you "square it up". If you are a fan of baseball, this has what you want. You can strategize against teams, shift defenses, look at about every stat you could want, and laugh as Juan Pierre leads the league in SB!!!!!!!!!

As for my franchise, I am currently 7-1 and am currently playing the Pirates. Wow, are they an awful team. This game gets better each time I turn it on.....very addictive.

I also have to mention that in the first game against the Reds at home a VERY strage, yet fun, thing happened. The game started off sunny and about 46 degrees. As the game went on the clouds got darker and darker and it started to rain. In the top of the 8th, with one out, the game goes to a cut-scene of all of the refs huddled and pointing all over the field. The rain starts to come down a bit harder and the umpire points to the field and then tells the teams to get off of the field. I was being held up in a "live" rain delay. The game pans the field while the announcers talk. It was really interesting. I actually started to laugh outloud. This game has what you want, fo sho!

The commentary is from the same guys that do ESPN Sunday night baseball games. So naturally they are pretty good at it. the only thing that gets annoying is sometimes what they say can be wrong, for instance if you hit a ground out they might say you got caught trying to take 2nd in your first at bat.

Here's what IGN's review of MLB2K6 had to say about the commentary:

"Jon Miller and Joe Morgan return in the booth and do a fine job, the best of any duo in videogame baseball, hands down. Their banter is so natural you'll feel like you're listening to an ESPN Sunday Night Baseball broadcast. They've included mail from fans with questions like, "What makes a knuckleball move the way it does?" Jeanne Zelasko and Steve Physioc introduce each game during loading screens and the two obviously recorded a ton of information on each team, including each team in the WBC. There are occasional miscues, but Miller and Morgan do surprisingly well in a videogame for guys that worked for so long in TV and radio."

For the 360 there seems to be no patch online... I have checked content download and there is like trailers and other purchased stuff.
