Even Vick's Dad is Dogging HIm

Posted Aug. 24, 2007 – Even Michael Vick's pop seems to be dogging him these days.

The father of the Atlanta Falcons star quarterback tells the Atlanta Journal-Constitution newspaper that his son’s illegal dog-fighting involvement is at least six years old.

Vick’s estranged father, Michael Boddie, says Vick staged dog fights in the family garage in Newport News, Va. in 2001 and later in the family’s backyard, where some dogs were “bit up, chewed up, exhausted.”

Dad claims to have nursed the dogs back to health. Boddie adds of the federal indictment that named Vick the financer of a Virginia dog-fighting ring known as “Bad Newz Kennels”: “This is Mike’s thing. And he knows it…likes it, and he has the capital to have a set-up like that.”

Boddie lives in an apartment for which Vick has paid rent the past three years and was reportedly rejected when he asked Vick to give him $1 million over 12 months.

What a sick old man, I guess we all know why marcus and mike have the problems they do. With a father like that as a role-model they never had a chance, they'd have been better off never even having a father. You can't get the money from your son, so make some money by helping assassinate his character. I'm still kinda of shellshocked by his fathers comments. I can't imagine my father giving police information to help bring additional charges against me. I hope his father gets what is coming to him, even if Vick was wrong by hosting dog fights, this takes the cake for being a scumbag.

I can't wait until they finally put that cockaroach in his steal box and this stuff blows over. What this thing has done is open up my eyes to just how stupid ( and cruel ) people really are.

I have to wear an adult diaper when I listen to the idiots on Sports talk radio that try to downplay & waterdown what Vickie did by comparing it to gems like :

" People shoot deers ( Marbury Spelling ) all the time. What's so bad about dogfighting ? "

" People Eat Dogs in other countries like South Korea "
" If it's behind closed doors . What's the Harm in it ? "

Those have to be THE most ridiculous comments I have ever read or heard on downplaying a situation. The comments from Vick's father are almost just as ridiculous.

Although I do respect Boddie for nursing dogs years ago (if he actually did), it's sad that he's bumming a place to live off his son. You think he'd be smart enough to at least try to get a nice house in the suburbs rather than a crappy apartment.

I could see my dad testifying for and against me in something small, but I imagine he'd do all he could to make me seem as innocent as possible in something as bad as dogfighting.

But whatever. I just wish this would blow over so it isn't taking up 2/3 of SportsCenter and we can actually have sports highlights.

I totally agree with you guys. His Dad should have just kept his mouth shut with this whole ordeal.

As for it taking up SportsCenter,

could you imagine if Bonds' story and Vick's story was going on at the same time? Ohh god.

I just find it amazing that Vick refused to give his dad $1 million dollars with all the money he makes every year. There must be something else going on between the family, which is obvious due to his dad going public about the whole situation.

Vicks dad did not pop up in his life until Vick was making Millions, I would not have given it to his *** either.
