R.I.P Marquise Hill
was hopin they'd find him alive when he came up missin

sad ****

NEW ORLEANS - A body believed to be New England Patriots player Marquise Hill was found by searchers Monday, a day after he was reported missing following a jetski accident on Lake Pontchartrain.

“The family will have to make positive identification,” Capt. Brian Clark of the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Department said. “But the body we found was that of Mr. Marquise Hill.”

The body was discovered about a quarter-mile from where Hill and a female companion were involved in the accident, Clark said.

The Coast Guard were called Sunday night, Petty Officer Tom Atkeson said. The search began immediately, using boats and helicopters.

By the time the body was found, the Coast Guard, Wildlife and Fisheries, the New Orleans Police Department and Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Department were involved, Clark said.

Hill’s agent, Albert Elias, said he had been told Hill and a young woman were jetskiing Sunday in the lake when both of them went into the water, which had a strong current. Elias said the woman was able to make it to a pylon and hang on until she was rescued, while Hill was last seen floating away from the scene.

Hill played on LSU’s national championship team and was a second-round draft pick by New England in 2004.

“We are all shocked,” Patriots owner Robert Kraft said in a statement.

The woman, whose identity was not available Monday morning, was rescued and sent to Tulane Medical Center where she told them Hill had tried to keep her calm as the two were drifting away from each other.

Neither Hill nor the woman wore a life preserver, Atkeson said.

“It’s so important to have a life jacket and a signaling device,” Atkeson said. “One keeps you afloat and the other helps us find you.”

Elias said Hill, a defensive end, spent much of his time since Hurricane Katrina helping family members rebuild their homes.

That's too bad. 25 is too young to die. No matter what you always need to wear a life a jacket when in a lake or river. You don't know what's in there and sometimes crazy and unfortunate events can happen even if the water is calm and seems safe.

No Lifejacket = No Sympathy

I owned a Kawasaki Ultra 150 and there was No Way In Hell I would ever ride it without a Life jacket. I ended up selling it because I almost killed myself on it. There had been plenty of times where I had wrecked so hard and I went under water and didn't know which way was up, unless I had on my Life Jacket.

I still feel bad. I mean, really. Just because he chose to do something without a life jacket (which might not be a law where he was, not sure though), I'm still kind of shocked?

SO many players dying this year, it's insane. Everything you turn around, another pro dies. Maybe someone is trying to get rid of professional sports?

Don't get me wrong I really feel bad for his family. I do. But there's just no excuse for not wearing a life jacket on a Jet SKi. If you wreck on a motorcycle, unless you fly far into the thicket, you'll be found. Had he worn a Life Jacket he would'nt have drowned. He would have stayed afloat. He'd still be playing Football. With the life that he lead he probably felt invincible, I can understand that. But in the same sense he should have known better and for that I cannot sympathize.

It is Mandatory that you ride a Life Jacket on all Water Rockets.

This is not a "sad" event. It is merely an everyday occurance that happens from being careless. Just because he was a professional athlete does not make this a sad event. I'm sure hundreds of people have done the same thing and we don't even know about it because they weren't famous. Is it only sad when you're famous? Just because he was a professional athlete does not make this a sad event.

Same thing with the Cardinals pitcher. He was driving under the influence and talking on a cell phone when he slammed into a parked tow truck. This is not sad. This is a normal occurance that happens from being careless. Sure it's sad for the families left behind, but what about all the families left behind from careless people who aren't professional athletes?

What really really irks me though is when you hear teamates say crap like "This really puts things in perspective yadda yadda yadda". If you need someone to foolishly make themself dead to put things in perspective than THAT is what is truly sad.

So what did we learn kids.....

Dumb things can make us dead so limit your amount of dumb decisions.

Thanks for listening.
