Sprint is going to Replace Nextel as the sponsor name for the Cup series. This took longer than excepted, as Nextel joined Sprint before the season started. I don't know if Nascar is going to wait next season to change the title, or change it during the season.

Dale Jr. inked a deal with Sony yesterday. The deal is similar to what he has with Budweiser in commercial advertising. There is nothing about if Sony will be his primary sponsor for next year though.
Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson are both fined $100,000 and bumped 100 points back due to their illegal front noses. Their crew chiefs have been suspended for 6 races.
Hendrick says he will most likely appeal the crew chief suspensions. He thought the teams were working within the rules. When the cars failed inspection they were not allow to qualify or practice. Hendrick thinks this penalty is too harsh because the team were able to fix their fenders and noses rather easily.

This week is Chicagoland speedway. News has already been pouring out of the track. Budweiser will not be sponsoring Dale Jr. DuPont is not signed with the 24 team next year.
Steward wins at Chicagoland speedway. 19 races in he finally gets his 1st win of the season. This was the longest into a season before his 1st win since his rookie season.
