Favorite Hockey Player
I'm sure we'll have a thread like this for every sport. Anyway, list your favorite hockey player and a few reasons about him.
Name: Peter Forsberg
Position: Center
Shoots: Left
Current Team: Philadelphia Flyers
I have been a fan of the Colorado Avalanche for a very long time, thus making me like Forsberg when he was a member of their team. He is considered by many the best player in the World. He can play any position, offense and defense. He will take a hit to make a pass. He is also an exceptional goal scorer. For example, he made the gold medal, game winning goal for Sweden in the Olympics. He was favored so much his face was printed on stamps and other valuables in Sweden. He is currently on the Flyers, so I naturally cheer for them as well.
Anyway, I could continue to write, but I will spare you all.

I've always been a close fan of Joe Sakic and Milan Hejduk. Two of the best players in the league and definately two players with some fine shooting skills.
Joe Sakic:
Position- Center
Shoots- Left
Current Team- Colorado Avalanche
Experience- 17 years
Milan Hejduk:
Position- Right Wing
Shoots- Right
Current Team- Colorado Avalanche
Experience- 7 years

Name: Patrick Marleau
Position: Centre
Shoots: Left
I have started to like the Sharks just this year. I have always liked Marleau. He's a great captain and a great player. Never selfish with the puck, smart player, great skill, just a great player. He will do anything to get that puck. He's not the most physical player in the world, but he will bump guys off the puck and find a way to get it up the ice. He reminds me of Stevie Y.
Here's his stats last year. They're pretty good.
Season Team GP G A P +/- PIM PP SH GW GT Shots Pct
2005-2006 Sharks 82 34 52 86 -12 26 20 1 4 0 260 13.1

Chris Drury:
Position: Center
Shoots: Right
Current Team: Buffalo Sabers
Experience: 7 years
Adam Graves:
Position: Left Wing
Shoots: Left
Current Team: Retired
Experience:17 years
Drury gives 110% effort everytime he steps on that ice, and is such a great player. He is just an overall great playmaker.
I loved when Graves played for the Rangers. He had such a positive influence on other players, and he was always giving back to the community as well.

I have a lot of favorite players, but I'll just name a few.
Jonathan Cheechoo
Position: Left wing
Team: Sharks
Joe Thorton
Position: Right wing
Team: Sharks
Vesa Toskala
Position: Goalie
Team: Sharks
I don't have any favorite players on any other teams other than the SHARKs.

My favorite player? Hmmmm...I would have to say Teemu Selanne. The man has always been a great goal scorer (closing in on number 500 I believe), racking up 76 in his rookie year (a record for rookies).
I however cannot believe you voted for Forsberg Scuba. He is undoubtedly a marvelous player with skills far beyond those of his peers (I believe I am repeating myself from another thread now). He is a great team player and can single-handedly change the momentum in a game...but he is a friggin cry baby. I do believe that other than Theo Fleury (back in the day of course) no man cries to the ref more than Forsberg does. It irritates me every time I see him whine about being checked.

Wow, back up. You listed Selanne, yet you called Forsberg a cry baby?
You would have to give him another few million dollars for his whimpy *** to get close to the boards. Watch him play, he just won't get near the boards. He is so scared to get hit, I have no idea why he plays hockey. Then, if, by some miracle, he gets near the boards or gets bumped, he dives and complains for hours.
Forsberg will complain, but he deserves to. He probably takes more cheap shots than any other player. He will take a beating to give the puck to a teammate in the chance that they have a shot.

Haha...Good times when Fleury played for the Rangers. I always enjoyed watching him play since you got to watch a hockey game and a comedy routine at the same time. He was definitly a great player, but he hurt the team more by his actions and his out of control anger.
I could be wrong, but I believe Fleury was the one who hit the SHARKS mascot with his stick several years ago.....

If he did that is funny. *sigh*...I am always happy when a Theo Fleury reference brings a smile to other people's faces .
