The Washington Capitals are 2-0 thus far, which is a surprise to many. It would great to see them make the playoffs this year after spending the last couple of seasons at the bottom of the Eastern Conference. Watching Ovechkin in the playoffs would be very exciting, especially if it came down to a Pens-Capitals match-up.

Yes, it would be, seeing as they have always been compared to each other for over two years. I remember that Georges Laraque and Donald Brashear fought last year. Guess who won?

The only game on today is at the Shark tank, playing the Avs. I wish I could go...

I was pretty shocked to see that there was only 1 game on today when I checked the schedule earlier today. Usually there are a good amount of games on both Saturday and Sunday.

As was I. I was hoping for some good hockey today. I know I'll be watching the Avs play.

By the way, what do all of you think on the Forsberg situation?

In case you don't know, he's still a free agent.

Well from what I have read or heard, he has not really made up his mind on whether or not he wants to continue to play in the NHL. Forsberg is one of the greatest players to ever step on the ice, but he has unfortunately been injury prone throughout most of his career. I really don't see a team signing him at this time, unless he proves that he is once again 100% healthy.

If I had to take a guess, I think Forsberg will spend the majority of the season reconditioning himself. Once the trade deadline rolls around, or even a few months prior, I think many teams making a playoff push will look to sign Forsberg. All of this is contingent on which of his three main options he chooses: Continue to play in the NHL, return to Sweden to play hockey, or retirement.

I don't think he'll return to Sweden to play hockey.

I think a Forsberg is the greatest player alive... when he's healthy.

If he took the year off, recovering and practicing, he would be in great condition to spring back for the next season, perhaps the plaoffs, as you said.

I made a mistake in that the Sharks and Avs are in Denver right now.

Not even two minutes into the game, Hejduk high sticked Michalek and got a four minute double minor.

The Avs had more chances in those four minutes than the Sharks did. Pathetic.

The score is 0-0 and the first period is almost over.

EDIT: In the last five or so minutes, the Sharks got two penalties on the same play, giving the Avs a full two minutes of five on three. Sakic scroed about halfway in and shortly after (on a seperate powerplay), Hejduk put one in the net. The score is now 2-0 at the first intermission.

That game was terrible. The Sharks ended up losing 6-2. They kept giving up alot of turnovers and just couldn't keep anything going. Nabokov had terrible defense at his side and they just kept letting people squeeze by them.

Hopefully they will do better against the Blackhawks on Wednesday.

I wanted to post about the game, but I had been warned recently about a double post I made (weird?).

It should have been 7-1, I have no idea why they waved off the seventh goal. The second goal the Sharks got was easily preventable, the Avs were just out of position on that play.

Sakic passed Hull's record and is now in 14th place with 611 goals.

Awesome game... if you were an Avs fan.

By the way, Murray's fight was pathetic. No one won, but he poked the Av in the eye. Worthless...
