Me and my dad last night both asked the question, why is Detroit in the Western conference? Detroit is considered to be on the Eastern part of the US and they run on EST, so again why are they in the Western conference?
I've asked myself that same question for several seasons now. I have never understood it. But I'm not surprised that Dallas played horrible. Shaky starts are usually inevitable. Especially against a team like Detroit.
Ahahahah, check out this hockey video. It's pretty funny.

Same could go for Nashville or the Blue Jackets being in Ohio, and even the Cowboys being the NFC East in the NFL.
Really just for placement I suppose or else other divisions would get a higher number of teams or too few of a number of teams
Coach Q will not be returning to Colorado next year!! I'm pumped. He's a terrible coach and I feel sorry for anyone who is going to pick this chump up.
The Penguins won game 1 tonight by a a score of 4-2. Malkin had 2 goals (one was shorthanded) and 1 assist and he continues to carry the team. I'm sure if voting for the regular season MVP did not take place until after the playoffs, Malkin would almost certainly win (However, it obviously doesn't, so I think Ovechkin will win it).
As far as the Rangers off season goes.....I think Shanny will retire rather than resign with the Rangers for another year. Jagr has said the Rangers are his first option, but I'm not sure if I would be happier if he re-signed or was let go. He was not his old self during the regular season, but he did turn it up during the playoffs.

I have a few things to say about last night's game 2 of the Western conference finals.
First I'd like to start off saying Turco had a good game. The announcers on CBC were bashing him all night long, it was unnecessary, and I felt he played well. He played very physical last night but he needed to, the refs weren't calling anything. Detroit was allowed to stand in his crease all night and take little cheap shots that none of the refs were calling.
Turco was the only good looking player on the ice for the Stars last night. I'm sorry but if a team like Detroit gives up a 4 on 1, which is very rare, you need to capitalize on it, Dallas didn't even hit the net. Hopefully the Stars can get something going at home.
Riberio's slash at the end of the game was unnecessary, but if you watch the clip again you can see that Osgood started the whole thing. As Riberio was skating by, Osgood got the nob of his stick up and purposely gave Riberio a shot to the face, which in return Riberio gave Osgood a nice little whack. No suspensions should be made, unless the NHL is going to suspend them both. Also, Osgood should get some kind of acting award for the way he went down, it was pathetic.

I agree with what Ribby did, not in a ruling kinda way but if some a-hole clubs me with a stick you be damn sure I'd whack the crap out of ANYONE who did that to me. Also, I agree if they suspend one they should suspend the other. However,it seems to me the refs have something against the Stars from laughing at Morrow's goal being denied in the Shark series to this last incident. "If" the NHL decides not to suspend just Ribero,I think the Stars can come back.

Pittsburgh beat Philadelphia last night by a score of 4-2 (last goal was an empty net). I watched the majority of the game and thought Philadelphia played a solid game and wasn't dominated by Pittsburgh like they were in Game 1. Philly made one mistake late in the third period by not picking up the man in front of the net which lead to the game-winning goal.
Philly also played without D-man Braydon Coburn for the whole game as he was hit in the face with the puck a minute into the game. Hatcher ended up playing close to 30 minutes!

The NHL fined both players for the incident in Game 2. I think this was a good call because suspending two of the best players in the series over an incident like that would significantly affect each team.

Geez, so much for an exciting series. Detroit won again last night behind Paval Datsyuk's hat trick. Looks like Detroit is heading to the Stanley Cup Finals this year.
Mag, what what do you think about Ron Wilson getting fired? Good/Bad move?

I'm glad Detroit is massacring Dallas.
I'm not surprised and am glad RW got fired. He's a really tempermental coach and his approach to getting players to play better isn't all that smart. He's extremely hard on them, and that's his one and only approach. At one point, him and Patrick Marleau didn't even speak to each other for a few months. It was getting pretty bad and it was the best for him to get fired. I wouldn't be surprised if he goes to Colorado.
Don't quote me, but I think Colorado has been talking to Toronto's coach Paul Maurice. Don't know if it's anything serious or if it's just talks.
All I do know is I'm glad Quenneville's gone. It's not that he was a bad coach, he was just the wrong coach for the Avs. In all honesty I would like to see Patrick Roy come coach the boys in burgundy, but what Avs fan wouldn't.
