MLB baseball general discussion thread
This should be the 06 season general discussion thread for baseball, discuss anything you would like about your favourite teams and how they are playing etc.

Well right now the dodgers are 1-2, losing 2 games to the braves. There has been poor pitching on behalf of both teams in the series, the braves show great offense but the dodgers have shown they can come from behind.

Pitching wise Brad penny posted the best start of the series.

and JD drew has hit the only home run for the dodgers so far. If he stays healthy he can have a GREAT season.

Haha Madres fan.

Lets see ah.. Madres only have one Great starting pitcher, the rest BLOW!

Decent Bullpen ill give them that.

Mike piazza will only catch half the year at that hes getting old very old.

I like adrian gonzalez at first.

Vinny at third is too old hes done for i think.

And your only power slugger is Giles, aside from that a pretty mediocre team.

Not to mention you guys have 4 ex dodgers hahahaha.

A.) This thread BETTER NOT turn into a flame war!!!!

B.) Go Cubs! Maddux pitched a gem today (good, he's on my fantasy team LoL), and their "revamped" offense (wow, even the "rookies" - Murton & Cedeno) is looking like it has the chance to be potent this year.

C.) Derrek Lee is still a monster.

D.) My guess is that they will finish better than all of the sports analysists have them finishing (3rd place) in the NL Central.

E.) Go Cubs!

That really sucks about Prior and Wood going down to the DL, the cubs should of really traded them at their prime. but no one owns a crystal ball. heh.

On the other hand the dodgers GM sorta did by getting danny baez incase gagne wasnt ready to go.

Hope the cubs do well this season, its gonna be tough with their pitching staff but you do have zambrano. Also dodgers vs cubs series coming up this month.

"At their prime"??? Well... Wood's prime has come and gone, and I'll agree with you there... they probably shoulda taded him when they had the chance. I'd be a much happier Cubs fan if they had let Dontrelle Willis have a start in the big leagues, but like you said... nobody owns a crystal ball.

It still makes me sick to my stomach that people around Chicago still feel the need to cling to those long past memories of Wood striking out 20 Astros in his major league debut.

Prior, on the other hand hasn't really reached his prime yet, as he's only been in the big leagues for three seasons now. So I gotta give my man Prior a "pass" on your statement (for the time being). Still time to redeem himself in my opinion... his rookie MLB stats are very tough to ignore. (18-6, for the record.)

And as for Zambrano, he's always been a favorite of mine in their organization... I might have been his jinx last year when I tried saying at the start of the season that he'd be Cy Young material, but his potential (like Prior's) is tough to ignore.

My Brewers are 5-0 baby!!! The pitching has been solid even with no Ben Sheets, Carlos Lee is "en fuego", and the youngsters are playing well. They may even challenge St. Louis for the pennant (sorry, Cubs). The last time the Brewers started this well, a local restaurant called George Webb gave a free hamburger to everybody in Milwaukee. Though it is early in the season, the excitement is "brewing" here big time.
