You're talking about the Cy Young yet no mention of Edinson Volquez being an early candidate?

Tied for second in the majors with 6 wins
Second in the majors, first in the national league, with a 1.12 ERA
Has not given up more than 1 earned run in all 8 of his starts this year
Tied for fourth in the majors, third in the national league in strikeouts

Did I mention he's only 24?

But seriously, for a guy that came into the season with a 3-11 career record and career ERA over 5, I'd say he isn't doing that bad. If he keeps it up I'd say he has a legit shot at being in the Cy Young race come September.

I think it's still too early to be talking about any kind of MLB award, let alone the Cy Young.

I did not read the article. Link maybe? He certainly has the run support each time he goes out there so I definitely think it's possible for him to get another one.

That pitcher from Cleveland? Fausto? I don't feel like looking up his stats right now...anybody know them off the top of their head?

In Webb's case I don't think it is. He's just been able to absolutely dominate every team he's faced. It is very early, but I don't think he's going to slow at all. I say he'll finish the season with only two loses.

It is Cliff Lee. His ERA is under 1.00 and he had a very long streak of scoreless innings.

Thats why we're not talking about him. He's a young, unproven kid.

We can talk about the Cy Young if somebody who has won it before starts off 9-0 I think.

Jayson Werth hits 3 homers against the Blue Jays. They were a 3 run shot, and Grand slam, and a Solo homer. He also tied the Phillies record for most RBIs in a game with 8.

I tried searching ESPN using various key words, but I cannot find the article anywhere. It basically outlined the past pitchers to start out with his record during the month of April and showed that all or something like 5 out of 6 of them went on to win the Cy Young Award.

ADAM FREAKIN DUNN

Reds beat the Indians off a walk-off from Adam Dunn. Dunn damn near sent the ball to Kentucky. Hit the safety gate at the top of the right field seats. Extends the Reds winning streak to 5.

Dunn also took a ball out of the seats in foul territory. Obviously it was some Reds fans sitting there because they stayed back and Dunn damn near punched some dude in the balls to get the baseball.

Final was 4-2, 2-1 going into the ninth. Votto blooped one into left and Encarnacion was hit by a pitch. Dunn came up and showed bunt on the first two pitches, taking one and fouling one off. Dunn then took a pitch up and in and then launched a fastball middle away and belt high (right where Dunn likes it).

Tomorrow the Reds go for a homestand sweep. It's Edinson Volquez (6-1, 1.12) vs. Cliff Lee (6-0, 0.67).

**EDIT**

Reds win 6-4. Reds hammered Cliff Lee for 6 runs while Volquez only gave up 2. Volquez moves to 7-1 and Lee moves to 6-1 with Volquez becoming the major league leader in ERA with a 1.33 ERA.

The win makes the Reds homestand a sweep. Won 3 against the Marlins, last game was rained out. Swept the Indians.

Paul Janish went 3-for-3, all singles and one walk.

Adam Dunn has home runs in each of the last 4 games.

Cubs fans, is it just me or does Dusty Baker NEVER sound enthusiastic, even after winning six in a row against first place teams?

The Mets completed a two game (first game was rained out) sweep of the Yankees last night by a score of 11-2. It's funny because their was hardly any excitement over this series where I live because both teams are doing so poorly right now (or at least not as well as many expected them). Usually I get into a couple of debates with my friends about the series, but this time it was just "The Yankees and Mets are playing each other this weekend..." "Really, thats nice, anyway....."
