That gives me an idea! Why don't we make a list of all the guys on the DL that could be considered allstars...I mean, with Ken Griffey added to that list, we would have on hell of a list!
When did Derek get hurt? I have been watching ESPN non-stop for 6 years and this is the first I've heard of it. Must have been recent because there is no way I could have missed this....DETAILS!

Here's the link to the article Pre:
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2415904
Lee is out with two fractured bones in his wrist. he is going to be in a cast for about 6 weeks, and he will need another 2-4 weeks of rehab. So they are looking at 8-10 weeks that Lee will miss.
Bad news for the Cubs, they dont need another injured player like JAKKMOVE said.

Furcal from dodgers tried to bunt one for a base hit, it rolled towards first base so scott eyre dove and shoveled the ball to lee, furcall was running full speed towards 1st and crashed into Derek lee, the ball went way over Lee's head. It was a very bad fluke play in which both D Lee and Scott Eyre ended up hurt. not sure about Eyre and if he is good to play, anyways didnt look intentional on furcal's part.
My question is how come it did so much damage to Lee? it didnt look like furcal smashed straight into the wrist, it just looked as if they just collided but its not like furcal jammed his helmet straight into that wrist, did Lee have some prior wrist problems?

When the collision happened, Lee had his wrist bent. The pressure of having your wrist bent downwards with that force probably caused some form of minor fracture(s). When the x-rays were initially read, the results came back as inconclusive. This led me to believe that the medical staff was in need of a second opinion. The fracture must be small, but a wrist is EVERYTHING to a batter. I would not be surprised to see Lee out until the all-star break. He will need to re-hab that wrist. If he comes back too early, he will be nowhere near what he is now! Sad!!!!!
In my own "uneducated" opinion, it is a "dirty play". You CAN NOT intentionally run a player over if they are not in the basepath. If we are to look at the rules of baseball, the runner is supposed to be on the foul side of the baseline. Furcal was not, he ran straight through Lee, and did not seem to think twice about it. Furcal could easily have avoided the play, but instead decided to jeopardize a player's health for a single! I am not attempting to make an excuse for the injury (seeing as that I love the Cubs), but it is arguable as to the "fairness" of what happened. It is just a shame to see things like that happen!

I love the Cubs, but they are so unlucky.
It seems as though signing a player to a longer contract is just a jinx for the Cubs, as for the fact that their star plays continually get injured.

The Mets' Julio Franco became the oldest player in baseball history to hit a home run tonight. The 47 year old smashed a 330 foot homer over the right field wall in the top of the 8th to allow the Mets to take a 3-2 lead.
Also, Kazuo Matsui hit an inside the park home run in his first at-bat of the year! He is the first player in major league history to hit a home run in his first at-bat in three consecutive seasons. Talk about incredible (especially because I saw all three).
I'll try to post more about other teams. School has been cracking the whip lately so the Mets are just about the only team I can focus on right now...once finals are done (May 15th) I'll definitely contribute more to this thread...

Hearing things like this from people makes me want to puke... "they are so unlucky"... gimme a break. I am a diehard Cubs fan, and I look at it as one unfortunate accident, which could happen to ANYONE in a baseball uniform.
Blaming something like this (or losing in the 2003 NLCS) on a jinx/curse is just flat out stupid!!! Enough already!
Ramirez signed a long term deal last year, and other than a chronic quadricepts (or hamstring) problem he turned out just fine... as a matter of fact, he finally surpassed Ron Santo's record for HRs by a third baseman.
So there goes your "theory"...

I feel bad for you Cubbie fans. Derrick Lee going down is a massive blow, but it couldn't come at a better time for my Brewers! That makes going into Wrigley next week a little easier for them. I was at Miller Park today and watched the Crew belt five dingers in one inning. It's a shame that these kinds of things never happen with Sheets on the mound for them, but oh well. And how about that Prince Fielder guy? I remember being at opening day and watching him strike out every time he was at the plate. I thought it might be a long season for him, but now he is hitting the cover off that baseball!

Im not using it as an excuse for them losing at all... nor am I saying it "only happens to the Cubs", you are putting words in my mouth.
Im just saying that it is unfortunate that things like this seem to have been happening quite often over the recent years.
I also never said it was my theory that everyone they sign long deals get hurt, I just said it seems like that, just look, Lee, Prior, Wood...

It would be nice for this club to reach the post season, but they have some heavy competition in their division. It is still WAY TOO EARLY to determine anything, but I think I can see the Brewers making the wild card. Again, way too early, just saying it is "possible."
Some other news.....
Curt Schilling is a nice 4-0 as is Eric Bedard of the Oriloles.
Looks like it is going to be a long season for the Royals unless they step up their game. They're on an 11 game losing streak
