C'mon now... can't we agree to wish that the Cardinals just aren't going to be leaders of the NL Central this year?

If you ask me, it gets a bit repetitive & boring to pencil them in for winning the NL Central each and every year, doesn't it?

And in my opinion, they should have to rebuild their team from scratch after being swept in the World Series (the year before last) by Boston.

I sit here and laugh at people's predictions after week #1. With all due respect to every member who has posted here, open your eyes. The Tigers are undefeated (and yes, I know the Brewers are too) and the Yankees are 1-4. Do we really think this will continue? It is nice to look through the eyes of an optimist periodically, but reality has to sink in.

The Tigers have ZERO pitching and they have to outslug everyone in order to win....not going to happen.

The Brewers will be a team in competition for the division, if they stay healthy. Ben Sheets needs to come off the DL and pitch the way us Chicagoans know he can (he owns us!).

The Yankees can not continue to lose like they currently are......just too damn stacked to continue this way! They have some holes in their rotation, but their offense should make up for that. Plus, they have a guy with the last name of Rivera (or something like that ), who is automatic!

The Cubs do look good for now, but I am worried about the rotation. Yes Wood and Prior are "sensations", but they seem to spend more time with the trainers than with the team! If they get healthy, and pitch well, the Cubs could contend for the division or the Wild Card.

Let's keep up the conversations, and keep posting opinions, and we could have one good thread about baseball starting up now!

How about those giants? Now they're 4-2. I think they look good this season.

Well, the Red Sox have been doing fine without Johnny Damon it seems. But it's a bit early to be judging.

I hope the Yankees DON'T make the playoffs. I'll be very f*cking happy if they miss out on it.

Evan
Maybe my prayers will finally pay off.

There is nothing I'd rather see than the Cards going straight into the tank this year, and who knows, they just might. Imagine a Cubs-Brewers series that was worth more than pride and bragging rights, mabye worth a postseason spot. Man that would be sweet. As for the Yanks, they may have all the talent in the world, but if the chemistry in the clubhouse isn't what it should be, they will have massive problems this year. That's the problem with having such a superstar-laden team. They all want to be the top guy, and somewhere along the line they might forget that it takes more than one guy to win consistently. That's why I like the Brewers this year. They've got a good mix of young talent and veteran leadership, and they are all about team ball. There is something to be said for being the underdog, it gives you a little extra fire in the belly when you try and prove people wrong.

The Brewers have played the Pirates and the Diamondbacks so far this year. Neither one is a good franchise. Also, both series were at home for the Brewers. Like Jakkmove said, it's way too early in the year to make outlandish predictions.

I think the Brewers are a real competitor this year. They have a solid YOUNG team that will play baseball like it should be played, not for a paycheck. It should be fun to watch them all season long.

Hey man, there is nothing wrong with being optimistic. I just watched my team finish at .500 for the first time in over ten years. Have they gotten worse in the offseason? No. Is the National League weak? Most people seem to think so, myself being one of them. It's not that outlandish to think that the Brewers may be pretty darn competitive.

Mets are off to a nice 7-1 start. Its good to see them start like that after starting 1-5 last year. David Wright seems to be continuing his great play from last year, and maybe Carlos Beltran is starting to pick it up (thats a big MAYBE). If everyone in their line up is hitting, the Mets are going to be a tough team to beat with their offense. But then again, Delgado, Floyd, and Beltran all have their ups and down (not too mention the strike outs in certain cases). Its still early, but its nice to see them off to a fast start.

Yeah, they are playing great baseball right now. It's looking like Atlanta's streak of division titles is finally going to come to an end. I like their team, there's a good mix of power and speed through their lineup. Right now it is looking like they will be really tough to beat this year.
