M40A1 is only for counter-snipers, but horrible for taking out infantry.

I don't know if I agree. Like I said before, if you are a really good sniper, then you can kill anything that moves with it. The only reason you say that, I assume, is because it takes 2 shots to take someone out unless you hit them in the head, and since infantry is usually on the move, its difficult to get that headshot. I agree, it is hard, but if you've got the skills, its a great all-around sniper.

I could be mistaken, but the terrorists do technically have the M40A1 available on one map: Blackwoods. For some reason, the M40A1 is available to terrorists on this map, be it a mistake, a glitch in coding, or what have you.

And I've found the M40A1 to be useful as an anti-camper rifle. Use it when you're quick-sniping against camping snipers.

I will have to look into this whole M40A1 deal...if its avaible to the terrorists on one map, then you can say with justification that it is a terrorist weapon as well as a seal weapon.

Yes, but it was said that the M40A1 is available to terrorists in Blackwoods, which means the M40A1 is technically on both sides of the armory, even though only in one map.

I dont see why the m40a1 is thought as a brutal sniper it's a great weapon, it may take two shots but it shots a bit faster then the heavy sniper rifles. It's great for killing campers and a good weapon if your skilled a quicksniping. The best way to use it is get headshots or chest shots and if their close enough pull a pistol out and put shots in them to kill. It's effective.

Guns Analysis and Breakdown
SEALs:

M14: Good weapon to have, effective for sniping, high rate of fire. Brutal!
IW-80: Effective for sniping, but without the Front Grip, its too sporadic.
MK .48: Best rushing weapon to have, especially with front grip. Works great
on Citadel.
HK36: Effective in close-quarters combat, but not good from long distances.
M4A1: Standard assault rifle. With front grip, this weapon is a beast!
M4-90: Best short-range weapon. Period.
12-gauge: Good shotty, but doesn't reload as quick as the M4-90.
M87ELR: Best sniper rifle for the SEALs.
SR-25: A highly effective sniper rifle, especially if you are camouflaged.
LA-96: A good sniper rifle from medium range, but sucks for long range.
HK5: The perfect SMG for getting lots of head-shots.
HK7: Small ammo count, but extremely leathal at close range.
M8: Good gun to use, but the bullets are weak compared to the M4A1.

TERRORISTS:
STG 77: Best gun the Terrorists have. Highly effective with Front Grip, and
leathal with the Supressor 1. Good for sniping.
552: Next best gun. Same as the STG, but with a slower rate of fire. Not a
good gun for sniping, as it has a limited range of fire.
RA-14: Originally a SEAL gun on SOCOM 2, its standards are still the same.
It virtually has no recoil when the Front Grip is equipped.
9mm SMG: Sporadic, but leathal in close-quarters.
TA 12-gauge: Semi-automatic shotty. Perfect for close quarters combat.
M60E3: The equivalent of the MK .48, but with less accuracy.
F90: The new "Noob" gun. Very leathal and effective. Limited range.
M82A1A: Best sniper rifle in the game.
SASR: Good as a silencer, but don't have a good selection for scopes.
Would be better if medium scope can be used on it.
M16A2: Best semi-automatic assault rifle, especially if you're sniping. Not
good for close-quarters, though.

ACCESSORIES:
M67 grenade: throw 'em like Mike Vick and watch them fall!
HE grenade: same as above, but also effective on vehicles.
Smoke / Red Smoke: Need some cover? Smoke is effective against regular
scopes, while red smoke is good against thermals.
M2 Mines: AKA Anti-Vehicle mines. Takes about 2-3 mines to destroy any
vehicle.
PMN Mines: Good to hide in shrubs and grassy areas.
AT-4 / RPG: Anti-Tank weapons. Fun to use against people also!
Extra Ammo: Shouldn't be used except for the HK7 for SEALs.
M203: Should only use if using against Tanks. M203-HE works well.
ZX-25 Airburst: A good straight-shot GL for the M8.
GL-36: See the M203.
Front Grip: Eliminates 90% of recoil on most guns. A must to have!
Supressor 1: Weakens the bullets some, but good for sneaking up on the
enemy.
Supressor 2: Same as above, but good only from short range.
Flashbangs: Now why would you use this, other than to irritate people?
