I used them in S2 with good success, but the dynamic in S3 is substantially different. I have tried 'em a couple of times, using the same techniques that I used in S2. Results are not good for me.
In S2 I would use them in door frames (to the side), in grass, on stairs, on the bomb, or anywhere else that I expected people to go.
S3 is much more open, and I haven't found a good way to use them yet.
Yes, I do use them. Same basic idea, as the S2 PNN's. But they tend to stick out a bit more. Still, put them in grass, shadows and stuff. And even if they don't step on one, it usually makes the player slow down, or go around. On demo maps, I like to plant then near the base. Lots of people will lob a nade, just in case. But that stops them from planting right away, and might give you that couple extra seconds, to come up and shoot them.
The maps are much bigger than on S2, so there are no heavily used chokepoints... but at the same time, nobody looks for mines as they are so rare and so think "what are the chances of me running on one in this massive map?".... basically, if you plant them in a place that gets a moderate amount of traffic someone will go boom
Ever run into that person who hangs out at a corner and just watches. Well get their first. Plant a m2 mine and then a nother behind. Then plant a claymore. When the enemy is thier blow the clay and it will make a domino affect

Depends on the map but i use them more then claymores, simply because i can set them and leave, so i dont have to sit around staring at them getting read to blow them up.
