Socom 3 Tips and Tactics

1. ALWAYS move from left to right, about 5 steps when in a firefight.
2. If your close up, aim for the head, if your far away, aim for the chest
3. Make sure look speed is not too slow, but not too fast, I prefer exactly 75 for my lookspeed because its not too fast when im far way trying to shoot them, not too slow when im close up trying to get around them from behind to shoot them, or just shooting them when their strafing left to right in front of me. Most professional Socom 3 players have their look speed at 75, acceleration at around 50 and deadzone on default which is around 55 to 60.
4. Use only your pistol when youve run out of ammo for your primary weapon unless youve got a sniper rifle, then immediately pull out your pistol when your engaged in 1 on 1 combat. I find it that your primary works better in firefights, others may disagree, the only acception is the Model 18.
5. If your going to be a rifleman (basically its a rusher) use the following weapons: HK36, IW-80-A2, M16, M14, STG-77, or RA-14, if your a shotgun type of guy any one will do, for submachine guns use either F90, or HK5, if your a pistol type of guy use Model 18 or 226, machine guns use either M60E3 or MK48. Me personally I preffer assault rifles for big maps when im rushing or sub machine guns for small maps when im rushing.
6. You can be in standing or crouching doesnt matter either way you still play the same, there arent really any advantages to one or the other

Re: Socom 3 1v1 Firefight tips

Well i've got about 6 things on this post that i disagree with. Maybe just my preference, as you have yours but...

Straffing left or right does help but most of the time, you're just spraying bullets, hoping to hit the guy. I always jump or move around objects to go around the opponent.

I find that in S3, bullets seem to be effected by gravity and the bullets seem to dive down at long ranges, so i aim just at head level or higher at long ranges.

Look speed/acceleration/deadzone is all preference. Seen guys own on recruit settings and also on seal settings.

Of course you would use your pistol if you ran out of ammo completely. What are you going to do? throw nades at him, hopefully gettin a lucky nade in.

You can use any weapong if you're rushing, I've seen snipers rush and quick snipe the **** out of people. I wouldn't suggest rushing with a 226 though. Eventhough it is my favorite pistol in the game. :D

Crouching hides your head. Since socom has been out, zipper has designed the game with shorter walls/objects so that when you do crouch or peek out, you are lower that the wall itself. I'm always in crouch. I hate standing straight up like an open target when i stop moving.

Not trying to be mean or flame, just dissagree with the tips you provided.

I think the biggest thing to remember when getting into a 1v1 firefight, is to SLOW DOWN.

What I mean by that is don't get exicted and hold the trigger down until you are out of ammo. Don't press that trigger until you see your sights actually on the target. Even when moving around the first 1-3 rounds out of a weapon will generally be accurate ones. Try it out on a wall. Get next to a wall, and start moving left and right just like you would in a firefight. First, do some quick bursts and look at the bullet holes on the wall. You'll notice that they are all pretty much right where you were aiming. Next, start runing left and right again, and fire on full auto. You'll notice on full-auto your weapon will tend to spray alot.

Thanks alot for taking the time to jot down and post your ideas, E1kon. I may not agree with some of them, but it's still good information.

Not always the smart thing to do. What if the guy your in a firefight with is shooting behind your movement? When you start moving back, you will get hit.
