Different SNIPER Scope types (12x, high scope, etc..)
Well if you ask me I have been a very on target sniper since SOCOM 1, I know that with customizable weapons and such on S3 you can over look some attachments. The sniper scope may be the obvious choice 16x scope right? but I have reason to believe and i've tested it:

16x (high scope)
- long focus in
- not so good through smoke
- not able to get through horizon smoke (eg. Killing Fields)
- don't always need to withdraw scope to 3rd person

12x
- O.K. range
- able to see past the horizon clouds just not zoom in that much
- you always need to withdraw scope to 3rd person if you want to spot someone
- able to see past smoke

As alot of people will say..."The 16x scope is waaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy better". It actually has a bad side to it. I find when I get comfortable with a gun I can use the 12x scope becuase of the "comfort".
so which one will you choose next time

I think the main disadvantage of the 12x is the fact is only has the 12x zoom. If someone suddenly appears in front of you (let's say about 30 meters away). You might have problems scoping in on that person, because once you scope in, the person will fill most of the scope sight. This wouldn't be bad when using an OSOK rifle, but I'm more of an M-40/L-96 type person. So I like the precision of getting those headshots.

Some people swear by the 12x, though. It's all in what you like. :)

For me, medium scope is the best.

medium scope is perfect for most maps because it allows you the best of both worlds. The only disadvantage is that the SASR can't be equipped with it. But I prefer the low scope with the SASR anyway... it's more true to the rifles effective range in the game.

If I can I will use the High Scope. It has the best range and thats what makes it so great. If I can't use the High Scope on a gun I use the Medium and if I can't use that I use the red dot. :D

I like the high scope in all cases. The only gun that I can put up with the lack of range medium scope is the sr-25, but I barely use it. I use the highest powered scope availible for a gun. I do this not only for ranger, but for spotting targets as well.

high scope is best in devils road which is where most sniper games are played

use the small sight to scan and zoom in once you find the guy peeking and pop him

16Xscope is the ****. m16 all the way n the OSOK rifles. 12x i don't like do to the fact that it is 3x then 12x if they had another one b/w 3 n 13 i'd been happy.

I'm going back to using the high scope (mainly because my memory card got erased - my kids got ahold of my PS2). Doesn't bother me much, since I don't use much of the "unlockable" stuff much anymore.

Yes OSOK rifles are fun but there's very few things that are more satisfying then sticking a high scope on an M40 and getting a head shot. :P

Meh... all those are ok. But the 9x "scope" is the best. If you can get kills with that on a sniper thats not an OSOK, then you ARE good at sniping.
