Small arms vs. a tank, can it be done?
I was playing a respawn on crucible when the terrorists got themselves a tank and were proving a pain in the *** for my team. I lobbed a couple of HEs at it which both missed. Dessperate and as it was a respawn I had ammo and lives to waste so I proceeded to empty well over a dozen mags from my M14 into the tank. After 2 or 3 minutes the tanl finally got his act together and killed me. Some other guy tried to kill it with his 9mm. All the rounds seemed to do was make little bullet holes that vanished a few seconds later. What I want to know is given enoguh time and ammo would it even be remotely possbile to take out a tank w/o HEs? Don't expect so but has anyone pulled it off?

Nope. Me and 2 friends set up an M60 each and emptied mag after mag into an unoccupied tank for a whole 20 min respawn. In the last 5 seconds someone got back in it. Still full health.

Nope, RPGs, AT-4s, mines, and HEs (barely- i think) hurt tanks.

I wouldnt expet it to even come close to even damaging the tank. I mean the tank has armor on it that is specifially designed to protect the tank from small arms fire.

If you shoot it in the rear armor or lid with an .50 sniper, it may do about 0.00000000001% (Just a wild guess) of damage to it in 20 minutes.

The best thing you can do is keep dodging the tank.

Stay close to the tank, save your ammo, and wait for a player to pop up onto the machine gun turret. Once he pops his little head up, make sure your aim is on target and proceed to paint the top turret red.

No you cannot do this. It would have been a cool feature though. You could try to dodge the tank, and then put an m2 mine down and try to get the tank to run it over :D

This would be cool and realistic, but if they added that aspect to the game, the tank would just be a deathtrap and nobody would touch it.
