I cant stand the L96. Its to weak, and its muzzle flash is huge. I would take an m82 or m87 over the L96 anyday, might not be as accurate, it still barely takes any time for the scope to steady.
The sr-25 is great too. With a medium scope and silencer :D its great
In my experience, the L-96 is quieter then the M-80 series rifles, and the muzzle flash is not as bad. All you hear when an L-96 is fired from a distance is a little crack, and that's it. Plus the lightweight advantages of the L-96 is awesome.
Lately, I've been getting back into doing a little sniping with the SR-25, and if you equip it with the medium scope and suppressor, you have the potential for getting lots of kills.

Personally I like using the M40A1 with 12x scope because it makes me feel like a BAMF (for all of you Dane Cook fans in cyberworld) when i snipe my .50 caliber opponents mainly on Devils Road small. However, the SR-25SD w/a medium scope is pretty damn mean.
If you can't get a headshot with either a SASR or a SR-25....quit sniping. If you are complaining about the 12x zoom being too powerful at times, learn to use your pistol more effectively.....or quit sniping.
Either that, or use the Medium Scope with the SR-25, and switch over to using the L-96 if you are terrorist. Of course, you can always go with the OSOKs since they both have good scopes.

My favourite sniper ever would be the M82. Next to that I like the M14! Yeah, I know it's not a sniper, STFU. Personally I never use the L96, but it seems that anyone who is good with it, is REALLY good with it. You need to be born good at the L96
