*Spook's Uber Tips
Hmmm...I've got a lot of time on my hands and this is the Tips 'N Tactics section...so here's a fat stack of random tips for you all.
1.Never settle for hiding/sniping/camping somewhere in which the background colours greatly contrast those of your character without looking for a better one. Obviously the ghillie suits are the easiest way to do this, but if you sometimes feel like not taking one, so you can carry more equipment or any other reasons (I often do), still look for good places that you'll blend into. Even outstanding objects can help. For example, if you're playing Harvester as a terrorist, (the normal dark blue one), try sitting in crouch just under one of the telephone poles instead of near it. Even though your shape protrudes from it, and you might not be the same colour, other player's eyes will not catch you as easily, since during only a quick sweep their brain will recognize you and the pole as "one object" that is always there, because after playing the map often they will get used to the pole.
2.Also,when finding a good sniping/camping spot, establish the area you want to cover, then take note of the zone from which you can cover it. Then, try to go in the place inside this zone that you have seen the least players do before. When we say "go to places people haven't gone", you might think "well then I can't watch the area I needed to". So use my advice, because even if you're just 5 meters away from you're first choice, it will work better than the more popular one, as long as you can still cover your target area.
3.If you have a silencer and are hidden in an area you're confident the average player won't notice you in, and see an enemy come walking unsuspectingly along, remember, you don't have to run at them firing full auto and catch them by surprise. As long as they don't see you, it's usually better to just shoot them from where you are. I only say this because I see many people daily prone in a bush, watch an enemy walk by, then get up and start dodging around shooting them.
Why not? Several reasons.
-In the 2 seconds it takes to jump out at you're target, he may hear your footsteps, and even if he doesn't have time to kill you, he's got more of a chance.
-Dashing out will show off your position to snipers, other players traveling with the target, etc.
-There's a slight chance the target will have just enough time to give you one lucky headshot, die and take you with him, or even weaken you before going down.
-Often, fellow enemies who are hiding near the area will be so frightened by the silent death of a teammate that they assume you see them too and may come out of hiding and start running around and jumping; more targets for you.
In my opinion, it's better to slowly kill an enemy over a few seconds while he guesses where you are than to take him out instantly and give away your position.
4.When an enemy vehicle is approaching (predicted from the radar, info from your team or simply the assumption they're coming this way), and you don't have adequate equipment to destroy it (AT4s, RPGs, 203 HEs etc...), it is almost always better to simply dive in a bush or hiding spot and let it go by without shooting. Vehicles are harder to hit, harder to snipe, harder to shoot at without being seen, and carry heavier weaponry than you do, so when a desert buggy with 2 or more SEALs comes down the road, don't try shooting a burst of bullets into it in the hopes of killing someone, or it will just turn around and run you over/shoot you up with turrets. If you try to shoot the people in a vehicle and miss, there's no escaping or going back into hiding; it will simply turn around, come back and run over every bush in the area and circle until it has found you.
Think of it this way: people driving a vehicle are extremely greedy for people to run over, and their gunners are even more greedy to steal the kills from them. Basically, if you take shots at a vehicle, you commit yourself to dealing with that vehicle, because they're hard to get rid of (most of the time) Even if you have a silencer, vehicles you fire at will notice they've been hit and might circle back, shoot wildly at bushes and known camping spots, or a whole bunch of armed occupants can jump out and come hunting for you. As I see it, and ESPECIALLY with tanks, if you aren't 100% sure you can stop an enemy vehicle, just hide and let it go by.
5.The same tip as before ^^^ also goes for hordes of enemies, or simply enemies you're not sure you can beat. For example, you've got next to no health and are low on ammo. You see an enemy with a big gun and looks unscratched run past without noticing you. Nobody told you that you had to try to kill them. If you can see yourself getting killed while fighting them just tell your team, and let them go by without seeing you.
6.Not the same, but along the same lines as the above one, is another tip I highly suggest everyone keeps in mind:
Don't waste your easy kills!
If you're behind an enemy who's running along and doesn't see you, wait to start shooting until you know he won't be able to get you instead.
For example, before opening up on an unsuspecting enemy:
-Make sure you're close enough behind that you won't miss and give him the chance to turn around.
-Don't start spraying at him as he's running through a crowded area, because he could jump behind something.
-If he's strafing side to side or jumping, the kill will be that much easier to wait until he runs in a straight line
-PLEASE READ THIS ONE:If you're getting ready to shoot someone from behind who doesn't notcie you, and he is just rounding a corner, DON'T spray wildly at him in fear of losing your chance! Simply go around the corner yourself and continue the stalking.
-if possible, wait until the guy stops moving
-if the enemy you're following suddenly stops in his tracks and looks like he's zooming in, or shows any sign whatsoever of sighting one of your teammates, loosen off on the above rules and kill him before he can get that shot off!
-Lastly, and most obviously, if he shows any sign of noticing you or starting to turn around, SHOOT. Being sneaky won't help anymore, because if the victim notices you, you're now in a firefight situation, not a stealthy one anymore. You have to be able to judge the exact safest moment to attack. Think of it as being a cop walking up to a suspect who maybe armed; be calm, don't alarm him in any way, but be ready to whip out your gun and put him down AS SOON as he becomes a threat.
7.This is another common sense one that a lot of players mess up out of sheer dumbness. If you're in a tank and have no gunner, and a pesky footsoldier is shooting at you and dodging your treads, DONT:
A.Hop on that MG turret
B.Jump out of the tank to kill him on foot.
REMEMBER, you're in a TANK. Ordinary guns will NOT hurt you. If you can't seem to run over an evasive little phucker, just keep trying, drive away to a good distance to fire the cannon, or just roll off. Keep in mind that since he CANT hurt you you have all the time in the world to run him over or drive away. OR, lmao, you can try a trick my clan leader taught me: Drive near a parked vehicle that's empty, and blast it with the cannon when the footsoldier is near it!
8.On the other hand, lol, if you ever find yourself on foot with nowhere to hide, nothing that could destroy it and forced to face a tank, stay CLOSE to it. As long as you aren't severly weighed down by equipment, it's not hard to dance around it without being run over. Being right next to the tank also keeps you too close to be hit with the cannon. Do what I do; just do your best to escape being run over for as long as possible (try to always be beside the tank), keep jumping and moving, maybe even shoot a couple useless bullets into it just to aggravate the crew, and at all times keep your crosshairs just above the MG hatch. It's only a matter of time before the driver gets impatient and pops out, so you have to be ready to take him down the second he appears, giving him no time at all to actually use the turret. Even if there's more than one guy in the tank, you can take them all out one by one in this fashion, I've done it MANY times.
Just keep in mind: sure, tanks are scary, but the farther you run from one the more chance it has of killing you, provided there's not much cover around.
9. On another note, if you're driving a tank, or any vehicle really, and you do have a gunner, don't become determined to run enemies over. The closer you are, the harder it is for your gunner to hit them.
10. If you see a person that you are able to kill, before shooting, do these things:
-Try to determine by what they wear which team they're on.
-If close enough, make a quick glance at your radar.
-Think to yourself if an enemy could logically be at that location. (EX: if you see someone without a name on them 2 seconds after spawning, chances are it isn't an enemy)
-If you are still unsure, and the target doesn't seem to be moving or seeing you, ASK ON THE MIC. Last night I was in a harvester and while scanning a grassy hill I saw a person prone with a sniper, and in a couple of seconds I determined it was a teammate by his clothing and position. Then I saw him turning slowly and aim straight at me. So I said "sniper on the hill to the west of our spawn, I'm on your team, you're looking at a teammate" "Domn't shoot, I see you", I EVEN told him "I'm the guy jumping up and down" as I did so. This had gone on for a good 30 seconds and then the dumbass sniped me. SO DO AS I SAID ABOVE.
And while this will be a very contraversial idea, I believe that a living teammate is more useful than a dead enemy.
TADA!! Hope these helped, if you took the time to read it all.
