the great thing about silenced weapons, is if you blend in with your environment, no one knows where you are. i always use ghillie suits, and find the most suitable "bush" or "shrubbery" and sit. i'll pick hot spots from the previous round where i'll know i can get alot of action. i shoot at whoever goes by, and i hardly ever actually move from that position, unless i'm being threatened by a vehicle, or someone spots me.

from round to round, just like sniping i'll have 3 or more spots i can use, and depending on how far away i get kills, i'll sit in the same spot for 3, 4, 5 rounds until someone starts looking for me.

also, when i don't want to jeapordize my position, if someone is super close to me, i will wait till they run by, and storm them from behind. everyone knows that feeling, when all the sudden silenced bullets start whizzing by, and they're thinking where are they coming from? most people will move for cover, and not turn around. if they do turn around you have more time to shoot them in the open, or you can wide out, so they still can't see you for a few more seconds. then you can go back to the same spot, or pick a new one.

when a teammate is in a fire fight, i also move out of hiding, from the sides or the back, when there aren't too many, and help out. honestly, i like when there's lots of enemies outnumbering cuz i can pick enemies off and theyre not even focused on looking for you hiding out.

even though silencer no.2 is less muzzle flash, and it is confirmed via another thread, that they both shoot the same distance, it's obvious to me, that silencer no.2 doesnt have nearly enough strength, or kick behind the bullet. i always use silencer no.1, unless it's on a small small map, where that little splash of muzzle flash mike make the difference.

about picking locations, like i had mentioned before, with the bushes and what not, i also make sure, seeing as alot of these things i do, seem similar to sniping, that i'm mid-range. your rushers are always gonna be up close and personal, and your snipers are further away, but when you have a good team, you have all three of these people working well together in the same area. you move together, and work as a team. i am constantly watching over the rushers where snipers arent available, atleast a dozen times a night, i get to say, it's okay, i got your back, and i get lots of "thanks" and "good team work" maps like citadel, where there's rooftops, are great places to overlook.

weapon selection, i almost always go with the m4a1 gun grip (or whatever the grip is called) and silencer 1. i found the scope as more of a distraction even thought it's extremely effective. the scope, with a silencer, you need to get a headshot if your going to kill them. if your good at that cool, but i'm not. the grip makes the m4a1 feel more like the m4a1 sd of socom 2. it's really familiar, i have lots of success. also, when the bad guys are off in the distance, if i can see'em jumpin around, or movin, why not, i'll take a few shots, fire off a burst or two, maybe scare 'em, or get their attention. but if they live, no one else kills them, they will come back to look for you, and that's what you want. terrorists, on really small maps i actually enjoy the 9 silenced, with the lazer tip, but in most instances, i go with the glorious 552 sd'ed, and gripped. pretty similar there w/the m4. the ra-14 is really good gun, but i find most of the time to get the kills the way i play, i have to be alot closer, and that's def. going to take a little more getting used to.

i often find myself in situations where i'm one or one of two guys left. i've gotten used to that. in suppression, i find, if i move around, looking for bad guys, i have a better chance of missing them, or getting gunned down in a head on fire fight. i just chill. when one guy comes past, and they will, after you cap him, believe me, the others will come looking for you.

it's a little more difficult in convoy, and control points i've found. i'm still working out my game plans with that. on control points, i try to stick w/in the 2 closest control points, the two we get the quickest, and, defend. if i have another defender it makes things easier, because we can both focus on one, and support the other in hairy situations. often, if there's a good enough spot, and you get the rushers running in, i'll wait till they start the control point, and bust in behind them, and cap'em down real quick, go back out and do it again. but that only works for a round or two. convoy is way more difficult, there is no effective game plan here, it's just all silencer skills. wether riding w/the convoy, riding behind it, there's vehicle battles, and on the other side, as a seal, or however, if your destroying the convoy, just like sniping you find a cozy little spot, and right when they stop, you rain quiet fury upon the driver.

demolition i find is very similar to suppression in that now there's an object to end the game. if they have the bomb and your outnumbered, you don't have many options. just look for the guy w/the bomb. know who has it, and try to pick him out of the group, cuz if he drops it, now you have focus. something that they have to come back to. and if they don't then fine. take the draw. if your outnumbered like a mofo, then no one can fault you for getting the best you could out of a bad situation.

i could go on for awhile, but i'm going to stop it right here, with a final word of advice. anytime playing socom regardless of what you "do" don't be stupid. if you have a game plan, go in there and stick to it. sure you make adjustments, but i notice more than anything, when you just up and abandon it, it almost never turns out the way you want it. in socom, there's no better feeling in the world then shooting at a guy, who's running in circles doesnt have a clue where you are, and getting that kill. being able to own people that didnt even get to take 1 shot at you. anyways, i don't know what anyone else feels, or if anyone has spent as much time with the silencers as i have, but it's becoming more integrated into normal socom 3 gameplay, whereas atleast i felt in socom 2, maps like the ruins aside, being someone that used the m4a1 sd on a regular required a special set of skills. a different way at looking at the way the battle unfolds, and a different style of thinking to get the same objective complete. everyone in my clan knows of me, as the guy who always uses the silencer. everyone i play with, if they want some help, or some tips about what to do, involving anything like that i help. i like seeing more focus on the silent kills. when i have a showdown with another silent killer, it's very special, like a sniper shootout y'know? alright i'm done, sorry for dragging it on.

p.s. if anyone has any questions, u can msg me, or if you think something in here is stupid, or irrelivant, i can re-word, or delete, just post, let me know. sometimes what i think in my head doesnt come out into words the way i'd like.
Wow, this is really something. Couldve easily been posted in the guide section...but w/e

i added a few more updates to the post, i actually am kinda glad i put all my info on one thread, that way if i forget anything i can go back to my good ideas :-x j/k, but i didnt have the stg and the iw before, and i also talked about dealing w/snipers, which is something i actually need help with. i get sniped so much... anyways, i also talked about night maps. it seems like this is all something i've posted on here before, probablly lots of little posts her and their that i'm just all putting into here now but there was one other thing i didn't update in the original post is what i call "leading" when i'm describing a situation, about how i was sitting in this bush, and i lead him into me, it's because, if they're at a distance, or a ways away, i'll fire bullets in front, or at a rock, or a tree or something, whatever i can do to get the enemies attention, that i think will bring him closer to me. usually when i'm firing at one enemy, if i miss the first few bursts, and i can't nail them they go in one direction like a b'line straight for cover. wether it will cover them from where i'm at doesnt matter, but i hold down the trigger, steady where the recoil levels out as i'm moving the crosshairs to in front of them. like a head level spray from behind to in front, and if i dont kill them when i pass the crosshairs past them, i hold them steady till they walk through it. alot of folks deal with quiet bullets by heading for cover. what they dont know is 75% of the time the cover they're going for doesnt cover them from where i'm at. and if it does, they dont know where i am anyways, so i will run straight the opposite side of whatever the object is, if they know i'm there or not, it doesnt really matter, because their is a time to be aggressive and a time to be passive. i'm figuring i hit them and got atleast "whatever amount of life i think i took from them" if i rush into them, they might get a headshot, but their shock, their response time, and they're life all indicate how they will fight me, and i almost always win in that situation as well. which also leads me to the other point of the 36, and the 9, and the ra-14, the hk5 and hk7 to be faster shooting rifles. i rely alot on spraying bullets and go for headshots and body shots as opposed to close quarters concentrated high percentage shots. so when i run out of a click sooner, i have less success than with a slower shooting m4 or 552. i like all guns that allow silencers, but the m4 and the 552 both have a nice middle of the road rate of fire.

kinda funny fact though, i almost never used a silenced pistol. lol, i always put the laser sight on it. the model 18 which i use as terrorists so deadly, and the 9mm/laser sight i use as a seal because it fires so fast. if i can line up 1 shot, i know i got atleast 7 of those bullets in their body by the time it takes 2 bullets to come out of their gun.

i actually read this whole topic from start till i wrote this, i must say the observation is very nice.

It also helped me remember how i used to trap enemys when i first got onto Socom 1 and the first while on socom 2. However, after much of the BS started on S2, i did try other guns an found the IW crazy good, an stuck with that for a couple months befor trying to go back to my M4, i lost alot of skill, so i tried the m14 an so on, and never aquired the skills i lost by tradeing skill for mowing power. A regret that lasted a long time till months befor socom 3, i just started to really get back my abilities, then socom 3 came out, an the new view, slimmer models, and more realistic levels...all....fooked with my head. lol

However, i had really forgotten about taking the confusing shots, to make them spin and dive. How to lure them into death, rather then have them walk into it by chance. And im very glad i stoped to read yer post, becuase even though with the way i play now, i prolly dont need to do any better, this will change my game all the better.

Thx, and keep up the good work on the silencer tactics.

it is a rather long post eh? when i first started it, i dont think it was that long, but like i said above, i kept adding and updating, so i'm glad to hear that it helped you out. alot of this stuff is alot to remember actually in any regular game. i often find myself falling into 1 habbit during the course of an evening, like waiting in the bushes too long, or running out to help pre-maturely. in those situations it's hard to reckognize what you're doing wrong, which is another reason for the post. i myself will read through certain parts of this post every so often, and think to myself, i havent done this in awhile, or i have done that, why dont i try this, instead of forgetting acquired skills i've learned in the past, they're all written on here now, so that wont happen in the future.

i used to be untouchable when it came to these tricks, i used to be a cleaner so to speak, and snipe to start, watch all my guys die, and then take them all on 1on1 with my rifle and my pistol and win killing all 8 on S2. More often then not, and even then i was doing well.

But like i said above, i slipped out of the whole groove, specially now that i had to readjust slightly for S3.

But yea, it is alot, yew have to know when to move, when to sit put, when to set traps, and when to misdirect yer target.

My biggest problem is all the noobs with their bad grenaid tosses and their jumping into yer line of site, going after yer target right in front of yew an getting yew killed for their greed (stray bullets). ect.

its all really annoying.

i play w/the same group of friends generally speaking, w/us on 1 side and whoever joins the game on the other side. that way everyone of us knows how the other works, but we also get to go up against different people every time. i didnt think about that w/the stray bullets or anything because i usually dont have the problem w/my teammates getting in my way... that has got to be the worst feeling in the world, knowing you could've taken 3 4 maybe 5 guys out, if 1 of your teammates hadn't started shooting at them w/an unsilenced gun while they were standing next to you, or w/in 5 yards, because then you will be seen.

i was on tidal fury one game, as a seal on the right side of the trail. before you go up the mountain is a rock, and i had been around the rock for a few rounds, so i found out i could actually get on top of the rock, which i did. when they rushed the bomb, and travelled down the mountain i killed like 2 guys, and missed 3 more, it all happened so quick, but earlier that round a teammate whom i didnt know had set claymores up before i got to my original spot (which is why i climbed on the rock) it pissed me off a little at first, but i found a new spot to chill for a kill or two, so i didnt mind so bad, until i took a few shots at the terrorists. i killed two in the distance, and two of the last 3 ran off around the beach front. the other one that i didnt kill saw me and charged right to me. ghillie suit on a rock = not too good blending tactics when they're in close range, so i back off the rock and i was gonna charge around to get him seeing as i had two choices, wait till he came around the rock of which direction i wouldnt know, or charge around one side, and shoot and kill him head on like he wouldnt expect me to do, or if i realize 1/2 way around the rock he is going the same way as me, i can back off, and sit in a bush, and kill him when he comes back around, when all of the sudden B00M the kid blows up the claymores and kills the guy. it all happened in a matter of seconds. i was so excited to see teamwork from a stranger i didnt mind that he killed the guy i should've gotten, i didnt mind that he stuck a claymore in my old spot, i actually thought he'd abandoned it, but no, he was still their... what he was doing was, letting me get the kills i could, and when someone got in too close that i couldnt get he was covering me. i didnt even think to recognize that he'd been watching what i do for the past 3 rounds.
