To all Expert Snipers:

Without giving your whole strategy away, can you share what you feel the best spawn points are for sniping on each map?

For instance:

Harvester - Seal - Spawn Point 2
Harvester - Terrorist - Spawn Point 1

or something like that

--People plz do not use the m14 if you are just learning how to snipe! because of the range. The range on a normal assualt rifle is 95 m but the m16 n m14 are 115m so everyone thinks "Hey lets put a high scope on it i can snipe!" lol i wouldn't recomend it unless you knwow hat your doing. Besides come on what fun is it to snipe if you can go fully auto? Also true snipers shouldn't let people get that close!!!!
i use teh 14 for sniping because i love the sniper rifle version of the 14 in real life, so i just decided to use it. but i use it once in a while now

just experiment with different spawn points. u have to adapt to the other teams playing habits to decide on a spawn point. once u get set, use ur sniper as a spotter and tell ur teammates where u see tangos if u cant get a shot off. every different kind of game mode (i.e. suppresion, extraction) on every kind of map is different becuz u spawn in different spots in harvaster suppresion and harvester demolition and the same with every map. practice makes perfect, even in SOCOM.

I agree also.

I think, in the end, it's up to the individual shooter. Whether it's run and gun, or stationary and silent, it's whatever works the best. I also think weapon selection is up to the individual also.

TIP: If using the OSOK Rifles, be sure to move your location every time you engage a target. It seems tedious, but it will keep the other side guessing.

My choice: The M-87 ELR w/High Scope and Bipod, supplemented by the 9mm w/Laser Attachment.

using a m16 is not sniping. i thinks its pretty cheap to just sit there and hide and shoot across the map to take someone out. sniping is skill. and no i don't mean to just shoot a gun. you need patience to sit there and wait and to make sure they can't find you, and if they do its because they are dead. people that sit there with an auto from across the map are too scared to die or lose beacuse their "rank" will be messed up if they don't have more kills than deaths.
um... the M16 is considerd a sniper rilfe , the defination of a sniping: Shoot at someone from a hiding place, esp. accuratly hit and target accuratly.

I havent actualy played online but, when snipining try to get the SR-25 with either HS or 12x, depending on the map, dont forget to surpres it. the SASR is another great sniper rifle because you can silenlece it.

when sniping NEVER use lasers, NEVER. at night maps they can see your lasser. the DE is a great gun at close range just its inaccuarate so dont use it when sniping. use either the Mark 23 or the Model 18 w/supresser. the mark cuase its strong and the 18 cause it can be usedd for AUTO at close range to defed your self.

I think the greatest advantage of the M-16 is the rate of fire and the burst capability. Another combo that seems to work pretty decent is the M-14 w/4x Scope and Bipod (at least in my experience).

I don't think it's cheap for someone to use an assault rifle at long distances to put down hostiles. It's just what works for them. As long as you keep moving around, and use good cover/concealment, hostiles trying to snipe at a distance with an assault rifle will usually have a hard time.

the bipod is a load of crap becuz its just extra weight. i would suggest the M87 or M82 with a high scope. sidearm: 226 silenced or Model 18 silenced. if ur a silent sniper, use the SR-25 or SASR with a silencer and med. scope. smoke grenades are great if u need to help ur teammates out with movement (sniping isnt all about killing, its about spotting enemy and letting ur teammates know. TEAMWORK) becuz they have no weight. lasers are a big N.O. while sniping. the high scope is not avalible on the M16 and SR-25 so use the med. scope on those.

ppl say lay on the ground cuase they always check the hills, then wont they start to check the gound cause u said to everyone to lay on the ground? wont they check tthat first? and htey also say put a laser on it, but on night missions they can see the laser, and also what if an opponent walks over you w/o noticing you, u should kill him with a surpresser. so u don't give away your posisint to everyne else?

So woudlint it be better to shift from hills to ground to hills to ground? mix it up a bit? just a suggestiion.
